My tire went flat?!?!?!?!

So today was the first day I went down in the garage where the beast sleeps. The first thing I noticed to start off the day is that the driver's side rear tire was flat.

I felt around and noticed something metal in the treads. I figured I had run over a nail. I called a local tire shop and they told me to air it up and bring it on in.

I took it in and they loved the car. They took pictures of it and checked it out from every angle. They also rotated the tires and torqued the wheels down by hand (their decision!).

So they deflated my tire to see what the problem was.

I HAD AN ENTIRE ALLEN WRENCH IN MY TIRE!

I couldn't believe it. But they pulled it out, patched it up and while they were at it they changed all my tires to Nitrogen.

All in all it after an interesting turn of events it turned out okay. I'll let you know how the Nitrogen goes as far as this increased gas mileage they tell me I should get.

The best I can figure is that when I left a Mustang get together I spun the tires and maybe it was just laying there. You should have sen the look on the tie guy's face when he poped the tire off and saw it in there.

I've never heard of any mileage gain by using nitrogen in your tires so I wouldn't really get your hopes up on that. One advantage you will get by using nitrogen is the lack of moisture that's normally introduced when using compressed air.

It's lighter than air, so therefore the car can fly now.

That was it! He was a GM mechanic who told me my Roush wasn't as good as a Camaro.....

They claim that Nitrogen isn't affected by the outside temp like the air is so you get less expansion and contration in varying weather or when you are running the car hard.
