ofcourse all those used to pre-05 models can see it is a remote shift style similar to FWD cars (no gaskets or RTV needed)... the new 2-3 shift is fast as hell. we found it easier to pull it in and out of the cab instead of trying to squeeze it past the driveshaft like others suggest.

yeah i personally think its a shitty design. I dont like it what so ever. I have put in a couple now. And everytime i have done them it makes me sick to my stomach.... I like my RWD shifter much better.

why is that, the only thing i could see is that you don't get the same driveline feel from the remote shift... i read an article sean hyland motorsports posted on their suggestive installation, but i found it much easier to drop it in from the top instead of trying to fight it past the driveshaft.

99mustang232,

After you installed the new shifter, did you feel like you got increased cabin noise? I just installed a Steeda Tri Ax and my car got horribly loud. I've check the weather boot and it looks good to go. I had a dealership install it, so I'm not sure if they did anything to the exhaust, but they said the didn't. Thanks for your input.

no real increased cabin noise that i noticed, are you talking about vibration noise or road noise?

I was talking about both vibration and exhaust noise in the cabin... it seems as though I can hear my exhaust significantly more than before the swap. Do you find this true in your friends car?

I can't say I've noticed any more cabin noise, we've had it in for about a year now I guess.

Alright, so the dealership must have done SOMETHING to make my interior noise louder.

I'm still trying to get under the car to see if the tech may have taken the exhaust off or not. I wish I could just say I was going senile, but I know my car was quieter when I brought it in.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll try to keep you updated.

PS It's a 2006 GT... that's why I'm worried about noise. It's too soon to have any kind of exhaust problems.

My 05 with stock shifter has a lot of noise at highway speed, but it's the boot.

Install went pretty smooth.

We did get under the car.

I think the biggest gotcha are the 2 brass spacers. The fat one goes on the driver's side and the skinny one goes on the passenger side.

It would also be helpful if you had an extra set of hands.
