lol, already do that stuff, hip operations as a kiddo though... Wondering how much better a racing seatbelt harness would distribute that load? As well as be a pita in general daily driving scenarios.

That makes a chill go up my spine when I look at that car. Thank god your ok and so is everyone else.
One thing I did notice tho on the other side of it all, your car from the damage back is almost immaculately clean.... I can never do that...ever

I'm OK, a little sore still, but otherwise fine. I had told the people at work that I 'd probably be out for a day or two. I'd really expected to be pretty much an invalid yesterday, but wasn't too bad. I had my wife drive me to the office yesterday (on the other side of the city) to drop off a report I had to finish Tuesday night after the accident. Still not too crazy about getting behind the wheel, but I know I need to go ahead and do it. I'm just glad I wasn't in my old 1991 Honda, it has no airbags, and being smaller, probably wouldn't have fared as well in the accident, nor would have I. I've got a friend that wants to buy the Honda, her car is about crapped out. I may sell it to her and go buy a Mazda or something with airbags for a DD. I need a DD that gets good mileage.
Kenneth, the wheels came that way. Pretty cool, they're one of the few wheels I've seen that look right (to me) with the orange. I've only seen 2 other Mustangs with those wheels. The body shop manager is a Mustang guy and was really sick about my car, so I hope he'll do his best to come up with a figure that will total it. He didn't sound too hopeful though. Said being a 2008 with only 3000 miles on it that the value was still high. But said it would depend on what they found under the hood and where and how badly the frame is bent.

Oddball, that's really painful to look at those pics. If they don't total your car you may be able to take the money for collision repairs and get a salvage bid on your car. The bodyshop manager should be able to help you with it. Hopefully that will get you out of your car if they don't total it. Hopefully it will be totaled though, I wouldn't want a brand new car with that much damage even if it's repaired properly they're never the same. Also if they want to repair it your car is going to take a huge hit in depreciation. Carfax will show the wreck and it would be harder to sell and some dealerships don't take cars with a lot of damage in trade. My daughter's car was totaled last year and they gave her more than I thought they would for settlement, I hope the same happens for you. Good luck. btw glad you came out unhurt.

The latest news on my Mustang is the insurance co. called me Friday morning and said the initial estimate is $9675, which the guy said, is about 50% of the value needed to total it. But that's just from the obvious damage the adjuster could see, in other words, mostly just the body. It doesn't include the structural parts and engine, etc. I called the body shop manager and he said when the adjuster saw it he was sick about it and said he didn't think this one would make it, meaning its probably not salvageable. The manager said the adjuster also noticed that the right front section of the frame was bent, but said he'd leave it out of his report for now until the front end is removed and the rest of the frame and other stuff is examined. The shop manager also told me they had begun removing the front body panels after the adjuster left and it looked like it was really torn up under the hood, so that sounds promising for a total. I hate that it might have to be totalled, its was such a nice car, but on the other hand it was just 4 months old and I know it would never be right again, so as much as I hate to do it, I'm really hoping it'll get scrapped. I talked with my agent just to find out if this insurance company sounded legit with their intial estimate and he said that's pretty much standard practice industry wide unless its just completely obvious that the car is totalled.
