Yeah I'm pretty much just looking for another cheap good upgrade around $500 and preferably something that I could install on my own.

SCT X-CAL 2 for sure!
most would say gears...but IMO why get gears and then have to tune it, when if you get this first which most will get anyway can tune it for you!

so thats my suggestion...it runs for about $379-400

or exhaust!

I would say gears but 1. You need a lot of experiance to install them. 2. It costs between 200-300 dollars just to get it installed. Oh and you don't need a tune for the gears really, just a speed adjustment.

I second the SCT Xcal 2!

Get the tuner!!! once you have that all the mods afterwards become more effective. so its more bang for your buck.. or i just thought about it. for a lil over 500 like 600 you could get a zex nitrous kit and be hella fast. and zex put it on there stang with out a tuner. turn 12's easy with that. and you cheap your gas mileage!

And probably lose a cylinder or 2. I wouldn't put nitrous on my car any higher then a 50 shot on a stock motor. After a few mods HELL YAH nitrous is lots of fun! But without those mods it may be fun till you see a rod in your oil pan.

With a tune a 100 shot is easily handled by a 4.6...

I personally wouldn't trust it. I've seen some scary stuff when someone does something that they shouldn't. You can but don't run it too often.

I'm not saying that I am right and you are wrong but that is just kinda my opinion, my thinking is why spend that much on a motor just to see it explode. But I'm a poor ass youngian with a wife and that will soon be a dad, so I can't afford anything to break.

But then again there is a saying that says if nothing is breaking your aren't fast enough. So hey just put some power to the wheels and keep a camera on it and then post!!!!!

Yeah if you don't have the XCAL2 yet get one then go get a custom tune for you car on a dyno. After that or before you get it dynotuned, get some Charge Motion Delete Plates.

Just so everyone is clear I have a Stock 06 GT and the only thing I've done with it so far is install a K&N CAI.

im sayin the SCT XCAL because his year stang needs a tune for every mod....might as well get that, and it'll adjust the speedometer

if you go for exhaust. flowmaster 40's whould make you a cool man!

but i'd stillsay sct xcal2 over it...if your gunna get exhaust might as well get long tubes with it at the same time

I think most people's first mod is exhaust...

Try a pypes o/r x-pipe and a flowmaster axle back...

Definitely a tuner, I use SCT. THis is the first thing I would do. Adjust out the throttle lag, increase the rev limiter a bit. Get everything out of the K&N that you can.

Then there are some many options...

Aluminum drive shafts for reduced rotational weight, or a chromoly one. These can be had under 500

Gears and isntall can be had around 500

FRPP CMCV deletes for under 100

UDP's about 250

So many choices

why is everyone scared of the bottle? nitrous is simple cheap and works. most people just dont understand it. nitrous works on simalir ideas as a supercharger or a turbo, more O2 and more HP. but you also have to add more fuel, people get a nitrous kit and forget to add the fuel part and have problems. the zex kit is good becuase it does everything automatically! just trying to protect the good name of nitrous out there.
