Fuel Pump Issues

Does anyone know if Ford has done anything with the fuel pump problem? Where it stumbles on acceleration after cruising at highway speeds.

I think mine may be doing that right now...my fuel pressure fluctuates between 50 and 35 psi at WOT with 8 lbs of boost. It should hold steady at about 45 p.s.i....feels like @$$, and you can see on the dyno where it's fluctuating...anybody know of any fixes for this, or am i pretty much gonna have to get a new pump? I know it's only a matter of time before the "Big Bang" if I don't figure out how to correct it.

Fromm what I have read on here it have to R2 the pump. I was hoping Ford might get off their ass and do a recall but the dealer says no code no replacement unless it fails under warranty

if you have the B.A.P, i would check
that out.....if you don't, then i would
suspect the FPDM next.

this could certainly be a pump going
bad , but it just seems so unlikely.

let us know what it turns out to be.

From what I have been told it's the pump getting air bubbles on the top of the pump and that causes it to fall on it's face.

Mine does it occasionally on long drives. I haven't talked to my dealer about it yet. It would be good to get a recall on it.

TSB 06-9-9
Hesitation on Acceleration
states that:

Some 2005-2006 Mustangs may exhibit a hesitation on acceleration after a long cruise. After coming to a stop from a highway type cruise, some vehicles
may experience a hesitation when the customer begins to accelerate. Air bubbles can form around the fuel pump during a long cruise and be ingested into the pump on acceleration causing a hesitation.
the fix for this issue is for ford to replace the fuel pump
----------that being said, tell ford to fix your $h!t
oh and this is my first post so HI all and its good to be here.
- my ride, a 2007 whippled mustang running 9 lbs of boost, just got done installing it 2 days ago!!

Welcome to the forums 07gttom. Glad to have you here. My '06 does the same thing on a long cruise, especially if i downshift th 3rd and plant my foot on the loud pedal, thereby going into a decent amount of boost. Granted, it is only for a split second, but it is still bothersome. Rep to 07gttom for coming out with the TSB identifying that so quickly.. my research hasn't netted me any good answers until now.

+1 to GTtom

It's a TSB, and the dealer should fix it under warranty. But my 06 has never done that.

Well supposedly after a long cruise it just falls flat on it's face and has no power.

I wouldn't equate it to a lag. Mine feels almost as though the traction control kicks in for a little and there's simply nothing there. At least it is only for a small part of a second so it's not overly bothersome.
