I hope mustang engineers and bean counters remember the 74' mustang not having a V-8 didn't go over too well with enthusiast !!!! I know this is a different day and time but most of the buyers today want a powerful V-8 engined pony. JMO

Aww, no way, man. Isn't everyone saying the 5.4 is what makes the GT500 too front heavy?

Well if they go the way with the that ugly concept car, or atleast take styling cue's from it... it appears there will be a little more rear weight if we do infact get the 5.4.

I haven't heard anyone talking about the 5.4 anyway. I thought I read somewhere that both the 4.6 and 5.4 are slated for non-production. There's some discussion on TMS about the 5.0 for 2010 and by 2011 it should have direct injection. It should get 450hp when it gets direct injection with all things being equal, but people seem to think Ford'll use the direct injection to keep the hp around 400 and instead increase gas mileage.

And a six speed.

I believe TMS is another site called the mustang source. Direct injection is where you directly injuect the fuel in the cylinder in precise amounts. Boat motors have been doing this for a few years and report increased mpg and power. I'm sure someone else here can get more technical than me, please elaborate.

The V8 will be dead to the average mustang owner by 2015. Gas prices are not ever going to go down, the climate's not going to stabilize anytime soon. Public pressure is driving up mpg. The V8, in my opinion, will probably be available but they'll be expensive. Most of us who would buy a GT because we can't afford a KR or Shelby 500, will be stuck buying the twin turbo v6, with V8's going into the really pricey mustangs. On the bright side, since it's already a turbo, upgrades might be easier if they don't skimp on the rotating assembly or fuel delivery.

I'll take a 300hp ttv6.

Speaking of Giugiaro... they must love that orange. Kinda funny how their Mustang 1-off concept looks better'n their M1 novelty 1-off.
