I talked with a reliable source last night who was at the Dealer show in Vegas and he said the '10 mustang was shown to them. He said it will still be a retro design more like the '69-'70 model fastbacks (aka Sportsroof). Has anyone else heard any info? I didnt want to pry anymore from him.

Wonder if they were shown the actual 2010 'stang, or just the Guigaro concept?

I'd be very surprised if the 2010 final design doesn't have pronounced hips like the 69-70. From what I've read of interviews of the designers, that design aspect was ruled out on the 2005+ in early stages due to time constraints and chassis designs.

I'd trade my '08 in a heartbeat if they do a good job and throw in the 5.0 like all the net chatter has been mumbling about lately....

Do a search for Guigiaro Mustang. I misspelledd it earlier.

Actually the second picture link is to ModdedMustangs....

Can't stand lambo doors, thankfully Ford'd never consider those. Apparently the whole point of the Guigiaro design was to capture the Mustang nostalgia with high end design and ultra high end construction. Thus the weird interior that wouldn't look out of place in a six figure price tag sports car.

well if that mustang gt comes out stock with the s/c and everything i dont think it will be as affordable as the gt now and that has been the biggest selling point of mustangs since they came out

that picture is the giugaro mustang...it is not the 2010 concept. I've heard a lot about the return of a 5.0 with a 4 valve and about 400hp. 6 Speed manual also

It only makes sense with the proliferation of pony cars that Ford attempts to stay ahead of the game by introducing more power and gears. I feel that the new car will be a steady progression or evolution of the current platform, just like in the sixties.

No idea where they got their engine news, but I thought the 4.6 was confirmed as not being used past 2009?

Piggysmallz - that's what I've read elsewhere and I'm afraid I'm going to expect that now. Should be pretty damn awesome news if it does work out to be true.



No reason to expect a chassis change, but all the same, I hope to high holy hell they don't go with an IRS on the 2010. Leave me with the extra cash and a reminder of what the roots of this car are. When they move to 100% electric in the next decade and do away with the growl of the V8, then they can tinker with an IRS. I'll have no reason to buy another Mustang at that point.

Yeah, I think they were speculating on the DoD though. The way I see it, if Ford makes the smaller engines more fuel efficient, maybe TT, whatever, they can leave DoD out of the big V8 in the GT. (knock on wood)

its a neat looking car, and evolution is important, but the only thing that feels mustang about it is the pony on the grill... im not ready to stop seeing the modern ponys of today replced with this thing, maybe 2012, they just need to upgrade and tweek, play around with engines and such before a full recreation...
