2007 GT Coupe

I am new to the web site and I am looking at getting some good info. I am buying a 2007 GT coupe. I have some questions about car options that I hope some of you can answer. Are the stripes a dealership or a factory option? Ford offers a 3:55 ratio as an option. What is the standard gear ratio? And finally the sound system. The shaker 500. Is it a good sound system or is it a typical factory sound system? I appreciate everybodys help. Thanks

Dont know about the stripes but the 3.55 gear is definately a good choice...Go for that...The stock gear is 3.27 and the 3.55's are a better gear...The shaker 500 is a nice stereo and in my opinion I would go for that as well...

Hope that helps ya out...

Welcome to MM, youl'll find it a great place for info and answers.

I'm not sure about an '07, but my '06 GT premium came standard with the shaker 500 and the 3.55 axle ratio. I'm thinking that most of the striping is optional 'cept for the C/S and v6 packages.

OOOPS...maybe your looking at an auto tranny? The 3.31 axle is standard on auto...don't believe the 3.55 is available on auto, but standard on the GT manual.

oldernewbie and chrisJ-- I am looking at the manual trans. The automatic would not be as much fun. I am probably going with the 3:55 gear ratio. As for the stripping I was looking on the ford motor company web and they don't show the stripes on there build a car section. I am deployed right now and I am going to buy this car trough a military sales program and the sales people don't know much about the vehicles they are selling. The shaker 500 is standard on the 07. I was just curious about the quality of the sound. The shaker 1000 is a $1200 option. That seems a little high. oldernewbie is the anything that you don't like with your 06. The options I have added are 18 in polished wheels, sport appearance package, comfort group, anti theft. I am looking at the 07 GT Premium also. I can't wait to get home and get it.

Sounds like you are doing ti right...I would go for the Shaker 1000...The manual tranny and 3.55's are going to be great...I would not do stripes though...I dont think they look right on the new stangs...

I am deployed myself so I know what you are talking about...Stay safe and enjoy the car when you get back...

personally i would opt out of all, and install some frpp 3.73's with aftermarket audio/visual, and go for the clean look without stripes you can always add them later

On a new vehicles what can or can't you install before you void the factory warranty? I would like to do a lot of different things but I would be afraid that I would void the warranty.

I have the shaker 500 in my 06 and like it .Have heard the 1000 sounds good but don't think it worth the extra bucks. When driving one, you can't help but turn off the radio just to listen to the pipes as you wind out the gears now that's music! Half of the money you save by not buying the shaker 1000 will get you a nice set of flowmasters. Good luck with the new car and thanks for protecting our country.

af2c40...Not much I don't like about my'06, but there's a bazillion aftermarket upgrades available for it. I opted for the active ant-theft and the front side air-bags that saved me some money on insurance.

Stay safe :wink

i also ordered an 07 through the military overseas program. i'll be taking delivery when i return in dec. i wouldn't buy the 3.55's or the shaker 1000. wait till you get back and put 3.73's if you will add a blower or 4.10's if it will stay n/a. as for the shaker 1000....for the money they want you can get much better speakers and amp for around the same money. it will sound much better and you can get the speakers you want. there are also many options for replacing the factory 8 inch speakers in the doors. as for me i wouldn't get the stripes when you order it. if you really want them wait till after you get it and have them painted. it costs more, but you will be able to any color you want and it will look alot better. if you are looking for the lower cost vinyl i would still get an aftermarket set. you can get them as wide as you want. the ones you would get from your order aren't anywhere near wide enough.

I didn't think about the side air bags saving money on insurance. I will look into that. Psycho bob if you don't mind me asking, how much did you save going through the military sales program. With all the options that I added, my car will run about 28,500. The paper work shows that I save 2715.35 buying it from the AAFES and not buying it from the dealer. I thought it may have been more of a savings or at least I was hopeing. Also what kind of warranty has everybody been getting. Is the 7 year 75,000 worth $1170?

The warranties are wroth it as long as you are going to keep your car somewhat stock...

Side Air Bags will save you a nice number on insurance...

I have never ordered a car through Aafes but I have friends that have...It seems that you are saving about 2k there from what I have seen the new mustangs go for...Had one friend give 32k for his...

I haven't ordered mine yet because I am still looking at the different options. I sent an e mail to my insurance agent to find out what the insurance savings will be with or without the side air bags. Just curious, but what is everybodys favorite new color. I am going with the Tungsten Grey and the dark charcoal leather seats.

i have had the 3:55, 4:10, and 3:73 gears in my 05 GT. Personally, i like the 3:73 gears the best. The shaker 500 sounds good to me (but i am older)

after i put $1000 down i will only be financing $25,250 for the premium. That is with the added warranty. with the warranty my sticker price was about $31,000. so yeah i got a good deal off of the sticker. if you order now make sure you know you won't want to change your order. if you do you will only get the discounts that are available at the time you change it. if you do order now you will get every discount from the time you order till your delivery date. i started out with only 1250 off and ended up getting almost 5 grand off.

i ordered the alloy grey. i saw both colors when i looked at them in may and changed from the tungsten to the darker grey.

oh af2c40
there are so many different sites for parts. just do a google search for 05-07 mustang gt. i've bought some things from RPMOutlet and stangsuspension. both of these have pretty good prices and stangsuspension has a small discount for military.
