JLT/Steeda Cold Air Intake and Check Engine Lights...

Does anyone have any problems with the check engine light going off with the JLT CAI? Or the Steeda Full CAI?

Concerned about installing either these...

I've been in for the check engine light twice now in 4 months...computer related issues...first time the parking brake line was not disengaging, 2nd time, the car blew some kind of "fuse #47"(p0155, p0161). Both times the car went into a "limp home mode"...car started running rough and was not able to go over 2000rpm. The wrench and check engine lights activated....
both times I paid $0 because I am under my extended warranty.

-if my dealer's performance shop installs the CAI(JLT series two...and SCT3 custom tunes) will this void my Ford extended warranty? I probably would have had to pay out the wazoo the last couple of times...

It should not void your warranty and I have never had a check engine light except once after a dyno cuase they didnt put the 02 sensor in right. Steeda power package ftw.

07stanggt-
You are actually the reason I'm leaning towards a Steeda...I read your arguments a few weeks ago..

but I haven't really heard anyone talking about having an extended warranty and going in for service. my concerns.

I'm just really annoyed about having to take my car in twice...or again...that limp home mode...I mean it scares the crap out of you when it happens...cars wizzing by you on both sides on the interstate...

Well i cant tell you for sure. but I paid for the 100,000 mile warranty. Which is I guess what your talking about. Before I bought the frpp power package, which is the steeda intake I called ford and ask them if it would void the warranty they said no. You should call either your dealer. Or ford direct which is who I called. The only issue I had my car in for warranty wise was the window squeeking, they didnt say anything about my cai or gears thoughs.

As you can see from my modifications now I have thrown the warranty out the window.

Did you get the one with that FRPP hand held flash device, that it comes with or did you get an SCT3 later?

From one tune to the other? Welll i got the xcal from brenspeed with their tunes. The 91 to 91 tune id take the frpp tune. the 93 brenspeed tune over the 91 frpp tune. you can see my dyno in my garage from that switch brenspeed gained my 7hp 1tq gains were all up top starting at about 5200rpms. I like the brenspeed tune, but to be honest for the most part I still cruised with the 91 frpp tune, it just pulled smoother all the way up and seem to be stronger off idle. Brenspeeds tune had this thing where it like kicked in at 3000 rpms and it seem to have pockets of power, like a sport bike. You could feel the extra power up top though. the throttle was different to with brenspeed, it was touchy, like when you first touch the gas it would jerk then kinda die off then kick in at 3000 again. I liked it, it was alright and on a saturday night or if i wanted to play i would load it. but for just cruising around takeing it easy i liked the ford tune. they had the idle faster and the temp set lower so the fan was on a lot.

I initially inquired about the power pac, but since I already had an x and exhaust, my dealer said FRPP CAI with flash, except with a 93 tune...

wonder what that difference would be from what you had, 93 to 91...

I probably should just get the Steeda and the SCT3 and call it a day...

No CE light if the car is tuned accordingly for the intake you choose.

Ive only had me engine light come on twice...both from melting plugs from lean nitrous conditions Predator easily clears the trouble codes.
