WTF is this s**t?

I went into the tuners shop that dynoed my car to get a A/F log from him...he was tuning a late model rx-7 so I had to wait for him.....he had these boxes attached to the axles on the car and this was how he was dynoing...now he told me he used a mustang dyno...which the car was parked over....when I asked him if thats what he used on mine he said "ya" im like "OOKAY" anyone know or have made dyno runs with these? how accurate are they?

PS the rx7 made 393 HP with a intercooled vortex and a bridgeported engine???....dunno but it sounded cool.

hydro dyno or somthing was on the side....two big red boxes ....hydraulic hoses were running to them.

huh? No the tires were off and these were bolted to the hubs.

the funny part was is that i knew more about his car than he did...he just bought it....i actually helped the guy tunning it set up his idle....should have seen the look on the guys face LOL

We have a local shop here that uses that exact set up luis posted from MW. They have hardly any tune business there what so ever. Shoot I travel an hour the opposite direction for my tune work on a Mustang Dyno. I'll stick with whats tried and true and industry trusted.

07, I'd be curious if you ever get a chance to pull on a roller dyno, to see what the graphs look like. Sometimes shops offer to run a pull or two at their open houses for like 50.00, jump on it if you ever get the chance. Curiousity from your peers here.

im pretty sure those kind of dynos will give you closer numbers to your crank Hp rather then you whp. they used one of those to dyno test the nissan GTR in germany.

??? how would that be. they are still going through your entire drive train to get the power to the dyno. the only difference is they are taking the tires off and hooking directly to your studs. can't say that it will show a higher hp because of not having the tires to turn also since there is a load being put on it. if i decide to have my work done in tulsa i'll let you know how it goes. the guy there uses that style of dyno.
