so whats the difference with having the venturi tube in or out? You keep the venturi tube in if you are not getting a tune correct? and out if you are?

also BLACJAC do you have proof of actually getting the 17 HP? I would like to purchase this CAI but i dont want to get a tune right now (if ever)
I've got the Roush which is the same as the Airaid. I bought the car with it on so I can't compare from stock. I then bought a Diablo and installed the Airaid Firm Shift canned tune and had to remove the insert. Big improvement but probably more due to the tune. Doug at BamaChips says that there is little to no improvement in pulling the insert on most cars because the 101 mm tube is way to big for most engines and can't utilize it's full capacity.

Hello M ike 2005GT NJ,

We do not Recommend removing the MVT tube unless you are going to go crazy with modifications like Rear End Change, Heads, Cam ext. that will require a full custom tune.

If you are just running basic bolt-on's such as headers, cat-back, or a computer upgrade, there is no reason to remove the MVT, and removing it will not result in a performance gain.

The overall quality, fitment, and performance of the Airaid are second to none!

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
David

1. Quality and Fit: Excellent. Having installed and removed the Steeda and C&L intakes, I can state that the design, execution, and fit of the Airaid CAI for the V8 S197s is superb. The materials and hardware are of high quality, and the intake fits like a glove (fits better than the Steeda, and workmanship is significantly better than the C&L street intake).

2. Ease of Installation: Excellent. Comes with thorough and complete instructions, all the necessary bits and pieces, and it fits extremely well. (I installed it with the optional venturi in place, as I wanted a CAI with no requirement for an ECM reflash, having already been down that road with disappointing results, despite using the most highly respected tune vendors.)

Hello MRV,

Thanks for the Feedback and Review!

An Airaid was the first thing I did to my car, had one on my truck before this and really liked it. Definitely felt an improvement, probably more than when I put a 93 bama tune on it later.

Hello M ike 2005GT NJ,

That is correct! No need to remove the MVT with basic bolt-ons!

The only time you would need to remove it is if you went with a new camshaft, cylinder heads, or a rear end gear change and the vehicle required a full custom tune!

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
David

Woah Dave you are quick, since you seem in a question answering mood... out of curiosity

why do you either leave or take out the MVT tube.

Is it for air flow? basically what is the venturi tube and what is its job (would rather hear it straight from you than a forum or something off google)

Hello M ike 2005GT NJ,

The MVT ( Modular Venturi Tube ) was designed for tuning and calibration.

The MVT tube allows us to properly calibrate and tune the tube so that it does need the assistance of aftermarket tuning.

The MVT tube does not restrict air flow in any way. The Airaid Premium filter flows well over 1300 CFM, and the entire system itself will flow about 3-4 times what the 4.6L could ever require!

Airaid took the time to design and calibrate a system that will work with the factory computer and still see a very nice gain in HP & TQ. We did not just throw some components together, call it a "Cold air Intake" and then claim that it needs tuning to work properly.

We do all the tuning and calibration in house, so the customer can purchase an excellent quality Cold Air Intake and not have to worry about paying an additional $200-$600 for a "tune" to make the CAI work properly.

Thanks,
David

Thanks for clearing that up, i understand now.

So i know there is alot of debate with the gains of 10 - 15 HP and the around 20 lbs of torque gain. Are there any dyno sheets for the proof of the gains or actual reviews/tests to show this? I did look at the dyno sheet section on your site but didn't see the 05+ GT dyno sheet (if im not mistaken)

Hello M ike 2005GT NJ,

We have a in house Mustang Chassis Dyno that we test all of our products on.

A Dyno is really designed as a tuning tool, and the numbers produced off a dyno should be used as a rough estimate of what a particular product can produce.

You always have to keep in mind a Dyno will also vary depending on weather, moisture, type of vehicle, brand of dyno ( Mustang or Dyno Jet ), and a ton of other variables go into getting accurate Dyno Numbers.

If you took your Mustang and ran it on a Dyno in 3 different states, it will more than likely pull 3 different numbers.

Here is a copy of the Dyno sheet for our Airaid 450-172 :

Any other questions, please feel free and let me know.

Thanks,
David

I know everyone rants about the JLT and such, but I bought the Airaid for my 07. It truly does have amazing quality, and when it was bolted on, it was even more sturdy than the factory box. I've had many people tell me it looks fantastic as well. It's been on the car for going on 4 summers, and it looks as good as the day I bought it, and I drive the shit out of my car.

Airaid FTMFW!

I have the Roush which is the same as the Airaid. The quality is great. My original CAI was a FRPP. It was of poor quality and I returned the CAI. I picked up 24rwhp with the Roush CAI and dyno tune with the MVT tube removed.

At your elevation, you are a perfect candidate for forced induction.

I used to have a Turbo car in New Mexico at 5,500 feet and every other car on the road was slow...even V-8's...that elevation just sucks the life out of normally aspirated cars. 5,000 feet = 5 inches of manifold pressure loss.

I'd save my money and get a supercharger. I know, we're talking 3 hundred vs. 3 grand...but if it is performance you want...that is the ticket at that elevation.
