a little help with 1/4 times
I need an expert to help me decipher my timeslip and help me figure out why I'm so slow. I know better times come with experience which I'm working on but I'm just wondering if anyone can see something else here and give me some suggestions.
.7100 reaction 2.2400 60ft 6.0428 330ft 9.1175 1/8mi et 80.91mph 1/8mi 11.73 100ft et 13.945 1/4mi et 102.51mph My car is a 5sp I'm launching at 2000rpm and feathering the clutch(anymore rpm and I spin like mad), I shift at 6000rpm's using the clutch and letting off the gas, if I don't I spin so hard I almost loose control. My mods are JLT II CAI, 91perf tune by Bamachips, off road prochamber, no front swaybar, 4.10 gears, BMR upper control arm, traction control is off, stock pirellies with 22lbs of air in the back 40 in the front. Racing in Louisiana don't know the level. My best at that track is 13.5. Yesterday it was hot and very muggy. When I put the 4.10s in I can shift into 4th now but the car feels like it falls on it's face when I do. It doesn't bog or anything but it don't pull very hard. The last mod was the UCA. On the street I can drop the clutch at 3000rpm and it barks the tires a little, squats then goes. On the track the same launch almost put me into the wall. anywho there's the goods any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Almost sounds like a shitty track surface.
Your reaction time is just practice. Your 60 foot could be better, but that goes hand in hand with the r/t. How are you heating up the tires, and at what psi are you running them? EDIT: stock pirelli's suck large. Change to a good tire, like a Nitto 555 or BFG KDW2. Or, Run a pair of drag slicks on 17" wheels for the track. |

2.2 60 blows!! u are spiining hard bro. more or less every 1/10th u shave off ur 60 equals to 2/10ths in the final time. u should get 1.9-1.8 60's with ur set up. so figuratively speaking if u hook, ur looking at lo 13's easy.
like zip said, u need tires. bfg is good but i would get drag radials. while ur at it get lca's and lca relocation brackets. but at least get tires. |

would nitto drag radials be good enough for 12's? With what mods I have I know some have hit the high 12's on drag radials. I don't know if the nitto's are sticky enough or not.

ive heard of people taking the 555rs into the 10s they are plenty for 12s with the proper suspension set up.

Your car falls on its face in fourth with 4.10s?

4.10's AKA gears only help you in the first couple of gears...AKA to get you out of the hole faster....to help with the 60ft's. 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio so the 4.10's don't do anything to help the car not "fall on its face". thats an issue within the tuning/motor itself.

I run 4.10s and my car pulls hard in fourth gear. Im not sure what your point is about 1.1 ratio but my point is his rpms should be higher when he hits fourth then they would be with a higher gear. So i agree with you, its a tune issue there. |

wow I didn't think nitto's were good for 10's ! looks like my next purchase. What about upgrading from 91perf tune to 93race, big enough benifit for the cost?
Thanks all for the help

Re-reading his post.....um, dude, its 4th gear. it polls nowhere near as much as 1-3rd gears...since its a 1:1 gear ratio. if it feels REALLY bad, then yeah, you need a tune. Your gears do nothing for you in 4th gear like they did for you in 1st-3rd.

you need better tires,,slipping the clutch is just burning it up..with slicks leaving at 5000 grand ..60 ft. time 1.7 -1.8s....4.10s with no traction making it worst...

hey rakkassan, john with the Roush mustang that runs with us has the nittos and he really doesnt like them.......he cant hook up to good..........of course he has a turbo, but he still cant get out of the 12s. just a heads up, it seems the nitto D.R.s arent hookin' to good at our track. But i think with a set of LCA's you could heat the nittos up good, and that would help (no wheel hop)........but yea, you where spinning pretty bad, i would say a set of sticky tires would help...........heck, the best i got last night was a 13.43

If you are looking for some good tires check out M&H a lot of people are getting some good 60' with them.
And like forensicsteve mentioned come down to No Problem Raceway one night, it's a lot better track, not far away and meet our little group.

Hey Kenneth
Now I'm thinking, he's very near the Texas state line and the track is in east Texas. But hey....if they're having cooler less humidity there, let's go...Heck if the car ran by some chance a 10.1 on the 20 lb tune, you just know we would be trailering it to Canada if we could find some cooler drier air...just for one good run. there is no real major traction issues at our track, we run pro stock cars, 10.5 outlaws, etc, etc.............the track can hold a high performance car, and a 10 second car is the norm out there........11s, 12s, and 13 second cars are slow when you go to evadale.......(not technically slow for a street car, but the spectators still seem to think we are slow)........saturday the Texas Pro Stock will be there, runnin' 150 or so mph in the 1/8th mile, you arta' make a trip out here one day when you get a chance........once the sun falls, you will see fast times here. and when we have a big race like we are going to have, they prep the track very well.

Ben Bruce Memorial in evadale. I was thinking nitto's because I can't find a cheap set of rims for the rear to mount some sticky tires. My car is a daily driver and I can't afford to get new ones every 3000miles or so.
