I believe I read somewhere that the real benefit is that the Watt's linkage keeps the rear axle centered under the car better. The geometry of a panhard bar set up causes the rear end to slightly move left and right under the car as the shocks expand and compress. The Watt's linkage eliminates this side to side axle movement and should make for a more stable, better handling ride.

Read this link if you want to know all about the Watts link vs. panhard bar question. Long story short, even for you straight line kinda guys, this is a great addition to your car especially if it is a daily driver, not to mention if you plan on putting those nice wide wheels on the back of your car.

FAYS2 Suspension page Watts Link page 6 If your a straight line guy a better alternative is the TRZ Black hammer set up. Lots of secretive raving about the product and the customer service is top notch.. http://www.trzmotorsports.com/images.../s197-full.jpg
