06 GT vs. 07 G35

Ok so here's the deal. I got a friend who just picked up a 07 G35 manual, all stock. He swares he can beat me and is willing to bet 1k to prove it. I drive a 06 stock gt (3.55 gears) and I want to know if i can take him. We are going to be racing at the local 1/8th mile track. I know it'll be close in the 1/8th, if it were 1/4 i wouldnt be as worried but what do ya think?

they have 306 HP 268lbft and weigh identical to us...should be very very close..just make sure you get a good launch

yeah i figure if it was the 1/4 i would be able to pull away a little but in the 1/8th i feel itll be a drivers race

and correct me if im wrong, but i read that the coupe with 6mt has 293 hp...its the sedan with the 306hp

i actually disagree but i could be wrong. I think the g35 would stand a better chance against you in the 1/4 then the 8th. I dont think they have to low tq that we have. It will all depend on the driver either way in this race. the better drive will win.

yeah your right 293 for the coupe and they have independant rear suspension you should win but not by much...

I think their power is all up top. In the 1/8 i think you got the advantage. either way, 07 350z car and driver said 14.1, your car 13.5. but again it will depend on the driver. do you drag race?

nah i havent taken this car to the track yet, neither has he. Ive raced at the track with my old tc, but this is a completly different animal haha

can you go to the track first and see what you do? get some practice? how long have you had your car. if he just got his car he is stupid to make bets against a car the really has a bit of an advantage and he doesnt even know what he can do in it. If you know how to drive my money would be on you and the stang.

I say cheat a little and borrow some drag radials to slap on her, or spring for a good cai and tune just to give yourself a little insurance

I say get the JLT CAI and tune. Then when you win, the money will pay for the CAI, tune and a new set of mufflers! Ha!
