S197 vs. 5.0

My friend has a 1990 model 5.0 that has a CAI, reprogrammed, headers, O/R X pipe, and 3.73 gears with positive traction. Do you think he could beat my stock 07 GT?

Dont be so sure. Most guys run high 13's with stock s197's. Most people can pull off low 14's with that setup in a fox. If he has good tires and a better driver than you i wouldnt be too sure

Like Psycho said, just run him and find out. I bet it will be a good race. I bet that fox ( assuming the driver can drive ) could get into the mid-upper 13s on good tires. When my 91 had a similar setup to that I could run 13.6s all day ( but I had control arms and a few other suspension mods ). Only one way to find out...

13.6 with bolt ons and light suspension is a really impressive time, good job.

My initial thought is NO! But fox bodies never cease to surprise the shit out of me, so be careful.

Not a chance, unless he were Blown, did an engine build, or head & cam work were done. Other than that, his car don't have enough power with just the everyday typical bolt-ons.

You can get a stock one into high 14s, not to mention how many poeple have come on here and had time slips in the mid 14s on a 05+?

Be sure to watch both races on the vid...

yeah a full bolt on fox body and 3.73's would be a drivers race against a s197. stock s197 are heavy man. a fox with some gutting, such as ac delete/smog pump delete, no spare tire, other things make it easier.

Heavy?? My 02 weighed 3293, and my 06 weighs 3359. I use to think the S197's were heavy to, but when I compared the weight on the cars, the S197 was only 66 pounds heavier. So they arn't that much heavier man. I think because they are a bigger car, most people assumed that they were heavy.

yeah but a fox weighs 2800 as equiped from the factory... 500 lbs is a bit when rolling down the 1/4...
So the mustang gained 75 hp and 500 lbs b/w fox and s197.

I know that Foxes were light, but most people compare the S197 to the New Edge and say the S197's are Heavy, but they really arn't that heavy considering the size of the car.

It's ok bro. It's just all to common that people think that they are heavy, until they actually look at both of the 2 cars actual weight. When in reality the size of the S197 is what fools alot of people into thinking that it must be heavy.

they act heavy, they handle heavy. The foxes are much easier to whip around. And what really helps them is slicks, because lots of low end torque plus light weight plus awesome traction equals sick drag times.
