I just went through replacing the entire tail shaft on mine due to breaking it.
I used Royal Purple synthetic and it calls for 3.2 qts. Mine was about spot on in terms of that. Here's a link to their recommendations: http://www.royalpurple.com/transmission-chart.html You need a hand pump to fill it, there is no room in the tunnel to fill via pooring or getting creative with angling the bottles. The drain plug is right on the bottom, and the fill plug is on the passenger side of the trans. |

I am assuming the fluid inside is already synthetic so there wont be any mixure also where is a good place to purchase a hand pump because it also time to change my blowers oil and i will need something to suck the oil out.

His car is outpowering me by 100 horse. It was the only way to hold him off. His face was classic and worth the damage honestly.
From that carnage, I got to find out my Spydershaft was out of balance, which probably helped a little in the overall damage. So that's been balanced out by Suburban Driveline, and my DS loop went in while I was there. As for your fluid question - I don't think oem is synthetic. However, the trans will completely drain for the most part, very little residual will be left. I drained mine, then pulled the tail shaft and nothing else came out, so it was basically dry from the initial draining. If your worried push a half a quart through for a flushing. I have a snap on pump that's probably a little excessive for a trans fill. I get a ton of use out of it for not only the trans flushes, but diff fills too. For something a little more reasonably priced, take a look at Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts stores. Might even have a rental you can get. Last edited by Emay; June 5th, 2008 at 10:12 AM. |

I could imagine the look on his face,i got the same look from a guy the other day in a vette an older one.He kept trying and all he could say is dam, that thing is quick,i must admit it made my day.But yeah i will check the local parts i don't want to fall too behind on the service and i just wanna give her the best that my money can buy and hopefully she will return the favor with longevity and reliabilty.

If I were doing it on my own personal maintenance schedule, not due to breakage, I would do mine every 12,000 miles because I am hard on my car. A change in color or consistency will tell me I have problems. I also look at the old fluid for abnormal metal shavings and such.

Mobil 1 and their filter ... 29.99 for 5qts and Extended Wear Filter ... can't beat that with a stick ... don't forget to buy the 6th qt. too
If I had bonus $$$ and wanted to get better oil vs. another mod I'd use AMS Oil ... |
