Bent BMR LCA Relocation Bracket
I was bored and decided to go ride around tonight. I raced a Z28 on a secluded highway. We went from a 50 roll and when I shifted into 3rd at 80 mph I heard a loud pop and the car felt funny. I slowed down and realized the steering wheel wasn't centered anymore, it was about 1/8 of a turn to the right and when I put it straight the car would pull to the left. I knew something was messes up and came straight home.
I found the passenger side LCA relocation bracket had twisted and bent. I could notice that the rear end wasn't centered in the car anymore and the driver side tire was about 1" closer to the front of the wheel well. The passenger side tire was about 1" closer to the rear of the wheel well. I am not sure what exactly happened to cause this and the instructions say to weld them in if your 60' times are below 1.5 sec. but this was at 80 mph. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I have rod ends on the upper and lower control arms so there isn't any flex back there. I also noticed a few things about the computer when shifting above 7000 rpm. I shifted from 2nd to 3rd around 7800 rpm and I got a check engine light and a code for P1270 engine rpm or vehicle speed limiter reached, P1704 trans system problems, and P0460 fuel level input circuit malfunction. Then the fuel gauge went to empty and stayed there for 2 minutes and came back up and operated normally.

some where around there may have been 7700 or 7900, the factory tach isn't that friendly for seeing rpm increments

there are a few threads about the BMR control arms being bent under high torque loads.
Hopefully you were at least WAY ahead of the Z28. secluded highway in Houma????

car likes the rpm, the motor was balanced and blue printed. I was seeing 17 psi on my autometer boost gauge which is 2 psi off low so car makes 19 psi at that rpm

With that much power I would definitely weld them in. Mine are welded in and my 60's are only 1.75.
Before I had them welded I would hear a pop on launch every once in a while which is why I had them welded. |

that is true, I talked to a guy last night who is doing a twin 61mm setup on a 2001 2V and he was amazed that the brackets bent without me launching the car hard
