Jlt & sct
Ok so i'm just starting off working on my car, last weekend i tinted my windows to 20% this weekend i want to order a CAI and tuner, i'm almost 100% set on the jlt and the sct xcal tuner.....but i can't seem to find a dealer that sells the jlt with the xcal 3....is it worth buying them seperate so i can get the 3.....and if i do that does anyone know which vender would be able to program the tuner for the intake before shipping it to me...i was looking at brenspeed but like i said i havent done anything to my car as of yet and i dont know which dealers are trustworthy and which ones will only give me problems.....so any imput would be greatly appreciated

It is a small white sticker with a 4 character code on it. It is on top of the PCM (metal box to the right of the fuse box under the hood)

Brenspeed or Bamachips. Any programmer will need that code. Bamachips has a link on their site to find out where to get this code. Like 06Red said it is usually under the hood by the fuse box.

you'll be equally happy with either brenspeed or doug at bamachips. i went with bamachips and yeah wow. make sure you get the race tune as one of your choices. just tell him what the highest octane fuel you can get in your area is. i personally got the 87 performance tune, but wouldn't do it again. i never use it and wish i would have gotten the torque tune for 93 octane

Thanks for all the information...so it looks like the 87 performance tune, 91 tq tune and 93 race tune....any idea on those...anyone have any of those and can tell me if i should even bother with them or are there better ones? and i just looked around a little bit...is the C&L racer intake worth the extra $75 over the jlt, i dont mind spending the extra money i just want the best there is because i dont want to waist the money later to upgrade the CAI cause it's not good enough....again thanks for the info

I have the 89tq 91 performance and 93 race. I have had mine a few months and have only used the Race tune. I had the 89 for a week but went back to the race tune as it is a difference. Performance wise the JLT is the same as the C&L. Now if you are going to mod heavily than the C&L racer will give slightly better perfromance as it flows more. You can also look into the Steeda as that is a good system as well.

i've heard with the diablo, you cannot shut your o2 sensors off 4 an o/r application...
you then would need a tune 2 specifically shut those off ... (but this is throu the vine, anybody else know this 4 sure?)

when choosing you octane for your tunes i would pick the highest you can get in your area for 2 of them. if you travel a lot in your car across the country then you might consider getting the 89octane as your 3rd tune. in my case in texas we have 93, but when i travel out of texas many of the states i have been to only have 91. although i usually didn't change the tune anyway i probably should have just to be on the safe side, but given that they are mail order tunes they are conservative. for around town i hear the torque tune is better than the performance. i myself use the race tune all the time. there isn't a big enough difference in gas mileage to make me change it.
as far as which tuner to get. call around your local speed shops and find out which shop you will use for your tuning and see which one they have the most experience with. i'd go with whichever they are more familiar with when it comes to your cars tune. |
