More Power 05 GT!

Hi all, Proud to say I am a new owner of an 05 Mustang GT 5sp, light blue with the grey cragar rims. Has been one of my dream cars ever since I saw it. Did a search and found and like this site. Enough of that, I am wanting to know about some of the cheaper add ons for power. Not really looking to go extreme. Would like to get to about 350-425 hp, not really interested in a turbo or supercharger. What kind of power can I get out of
1. Chip
2. Exhaust and Headers

Those are the main things I want to change, If anyone can let me know what I need to do to get to the above levels. BTW Great Site

TRy K&N CAI you can also install a 4:10 gears or a Flowmaster exhaust. All of these are just about the cheapest way to get started.

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at the Flowmaster already. Had Flowmasters on my 66 Impala and loved the sound. Any idea on what kind of HP boost I will get? Same with the K/N. Want more power but do not want to break the bank either. Already did that by buying the GT in the first place. I guess I am looking at most bang for the buck.

if your shooting for 350-425 to the wheels without a blower your in for some work.

i would start out with intake(i meant plenum and throttle body as well) and exhaust. headers don't matter that much on a n/a car anyway.
then throw in some gears and get it dyno tuned.
a nice suspension set up would be good as well.

With the Flowmaster I'm not sure With the CAI I think it's about a 10% increase. If you want Midas is now installing the Flowmaster I know what a pain mufflers can be with out the right equipment.

The good thing is that my Brother in law is a Major Gearhead, He won't let me do it wrong. I have to make the Stang faster to keep up with his 00 TA. I had him yesterday in a race, and damn it, I missed a shift and he got me. I do think the first thing I do is an exaust, needs to sound a little meaner. My Bro in law has Flowmasters on his TA, Man that thing sounds good.

if you missed a shift maybe you should get a short throw shifter. you'll never miss a gear again.
probably the best bang for your buck would be getting some gears. since you aren't wanting to blow it get the 4:10's.

and if you do get a shifter i would say either steeda tri ax or mgw.
steeda is a great shifter for it's price but the mgw is almost Godlike.but it costs a bit more

The K&N CAI adds on 15hp or so says the dyno chart. If you really are strapped for cash you can get 100shot wet nitrous and the 4.6L block can run that no problem. That right there will give you 100 extra hp for like less than $500

If your looking to get into the 350-425hp range there is no way you will get it for cheap. With all the bolt ons (exhaust, UD Pullys, Throttle Body, CAI, Tune, and ect.) you might get about 325 and you will spend a couple grand easy. Then there is ported and polished heads, cams, forged parts and other stuff which is even more expansive and should get you around 400hp.
But with all the money you spend on that stuff you might as well just get the blower and be over 400 for sure.

Here is a link to an article from this board with some great info HP IS NOT CHEAP
