As long as you are spinning the tires on the street or track, a lot of the energy produced is being diverted away from the rearend and other parts. The more grip and less spin achieved, the more energy is being directly transferred to the car and can cause faillures. Ask 05GT_KB what happened to his stock rearend at about 530 rear wheel torque once he put some Mickeys on. I was there. He figured his transmission would go first though.

Once you dig into the low 11s (11.499), you'll have to add rollbars and some other safety stuff. You have to make a decision to what extent you are willing to compromise the car's interior for ET. Get close to and target 9s, it time for a full roll cage and more. There is a dramatic difference between roll bar and roll cage. It can really impact the car as a street vehicle.

450 RWHP will get you in the mid to high 11's and you don't have to worry about the cage.

The Whipple and KB kits run out of steam about 550 rwhp. The throttlebody and inlets become a restriction. KB has some good info about not making anymore power from 15 to 20 psi. because the throttlebody wouldn't let the supercharger get anymore air so no more horsepower.

I would look into getting a kit from ST Motorsports and you can eclipse 600 rwhp with the 2.3L Whipple.

You could also look at centri superchargers like the Procharger D1 or Novi 2200.
