yeah, I figured it out.. It's bogus now anyway 14.5 gallons of gas and not getting into boost got 74 miles to the tank, went back to the pump and put 14.4 gallons back in it. I am getting 5.1 mpg in town and 9.7 on highway at 70 mph with the cruise control set. I love the tune though and wouldn't trade it for mid 20 mpg again

What I would like to know is, when do you reset the computer? When you get on the highway? If so, your not really going to get a very accurate reading. If you leave the reset alone for a few hundred miles, you should get a true average. I must admit though, 27.2 gph is impressive for highway driving alone with these cars. My true average with a stock GT is 22.8 or so. I haven't reset it for a long long time so I figure thats a good average.

22.8 is exactly what I'm getting over the course of several hundred miles. mine is completely stock with 3.55s. I do average about 75mph on the freeways though. If I dropped that down I could probably get another 2mpg.

I reset the trip computer/mpg/etc every time I fill up. I sometimes reset my mpg readout when I start out on a long highway trip to estimate highway mpg. Otherwise I don't touch it until my next fill up.

You also need to remember that my 27.2mpg is with cams & 4.10's. I got 30mpg on the stock cam and 3.55's.

Your data will be pretty much meaningless. You have to let it average out over a long period of time and miles to get a true average of highway and city driving.
I can get 60 miles to the gallon by climbing a steep hill and reseting the computer as I crest the hill and coast down. Does it mean anything? Not really.

I have a lincoln ls (soon to be replaced ) and it has a similar computer, i read somewhere that to get a pretty accurate mpg readout it takes about 5 miles after a reset.

I'm not fucking retarded. I know that if I was coasting down a fucking mountain it would show 200mpg. I take the data on flat highway for 100-300 miles of highway driving to come up with that number.

Is it necessary to break in the 4.10s for 500 miles?? Oops!!! I guess I could not wait!!! Damn how in the world are you getting such a high mpg???? That is insane, I thought someone told me before about the cams doing the opposite. Well I don't have cams but my city mpg is 16 driving like a grandma and 20+ driving like a grandma on highway and believe I got up to 25 once on the highway with no traffic and A/C off. Other that it will be in the teens!!!! But man we got hot rods so I got to man up!

Yup, 500 miles, but most of us break them in for 50 before opening them up

I get good gas mileage because I drive on a flat highway going 60mph.

And yes, you can typically expect a 2mpg loss each for 4.10's and cams. My mpg slightly suffered with cams (like 0.2mpg), and I lost the typical 2 mpg with the 4.10's.

Yeah tribal I constantly get 24, 25 or so mpg @ 75 mph on the highway, and can hit 27-28 if I keep it to 60.

And that is also with 4.10's, and a race tune.

I've also checked my heads up display, and it is extremely accurate. But it's amazing how many people don't believe me when I tell them what kind of mpg I get with the 4.10's. lol

Yeah, I mean, I guess it is hard to believe when others are getting such terrible mileage, but its the truth. I'm just not hard on my car on the highway. Non-highway driving is another story though, and I'm usually around 12mpg in that situation

I'm exactly the same bro. In town I can barely push 12. Maybe 15 if I baby it.

HAHAHAHAHA baby it....that's a good one.

But yeah, on the highway, even if I'm pushing it hard, I still get 24 or 25 mpg. I really think it's because the steeper gear makes it easier for the engine to keep the car moving.

ok i keep seeing that 4:10 you will have a horrilbe top speed. I have a 2001 GT AUTO and i hit 143 so far with the stock gears and had quite a bit for RPM range left. how bad will the 4:10s affect that. I am going to make it a 10 second street car too.

its more complicated then that. I think people are under some misconceptions about the final ratio and tend to make broad statements that maybe applied to one particular setup. but that certainly does not mean it applies to all setups.

as far as top speed capability 4.10s are not going to limit your car in that area at all. road racers do 180 with 4.10s

As for the strip, remember, no real drag strip car is running with less then 4.10s and most are running 4.30s or 4.56, and we are talking blown, sprayed, 800hp power cars.

But their are a lot more factors to it then that. It will depend on what rpm your shifting at, what is the height or your tires, so forth for you to really decide what gear you want.

I doubt many stangs are in the tens with 3.31s.
