Hood pins installed... with one issue

Well, I got my hood pins installed yesterday but with one issue... one of the rings that holds onto the pin keeps bending funny and popping the clip out. I'm going to email the vendor I got them from and see what they can do about getting me a replacement.

Sorry, only crappy cell phone pics at the moment.

Anyways... what do you guys think?

And the bad ring/clip -

I think they were $95. Its pretty easy to do. No real measuring. Once you get the mounts installed, you just drill the hood from the bottom up. The thing that took me the longest was getting the height of each pin perfect. That, and trying to fix the jacked up ring/pin.

I really had no choice... I had my hood come up on me once already!!! Fucking scary. At least it didn't fly all the way up... just a few inches.

Tribal, bush the ring ends together so they are touching or almost over lapping. Then put it back on the pin, that will solve the problem..

Emay, I've done that a few times now, which is how I get the pin to go back in, but once I move the ring over and pull the pin out it goes back to being fucked up again. It's all malformed. The package came kinda fucked up and the ring was never a perfect circle.

But yeah, I'll continue to do that until I get a replacement sent to me.

Sorry to hijack the thread...Don't worry 07 procharger, those bungs are standardized. Just about any muffler shop should have then in stock, and they are cheap too.

Tribal...looks great! I was nervous with mine too, but I'm glad I did it. I must have checked everything 4 or 5 times before I started.

If you have shelby hood pins, I had the same problem. Just call them up and explain what is happening and they'll mail out a new one for you. That's what I did at least, only took about 10 seconds of explaining and the guy was like "ok, we'll send out new rings for you". I have 1 spare one still in case they aren't as friendly, I can send that to you.

I was lucky enough that I didn't have that problem. Oh, and the nerve racking part. I was going to do the pins myself but after paying $1000 for my hood and painting it I didn't have the nerve so the body shop said they would do it for $20. I almost fainted just watching.

My original cheap ass hood pins Shelby installed did the same thing. I'm not going to put them back on because of the problem I had with the hood pitting. I will be installing an aluminum hood pin kit. Make them send you a new one. I tried to fix mine and it would work for a awhile then screw up again. How do you get your car to shine like it does? My black '06 GT never looked that good.

Thanks man! And yes, I checked everything over and over and over and STILL I didn't get it perfect. Ah well, she's not a show car. I've always built her to look really good at about a 15 foot distance

Thanks for the info man. I have the vendor I purchased them from inquiring with Scott Drake right now. I'll see how that goes and see if I need to get involved myself from there. I will use your offer of the spare as my secondary backup plan. I REALLY appreciate that though. VERY nice of you!

I can totally understand that! I figured if I fucked this hood up... oh well... I'm getting a new one this winter anyways. But if I fuck up the new one I'm going to be insanely pissed off!

Man, bummer it didn't turn out for you. I'm still holding out hope for these pins!

Shine? Shit. It must be an optical illusion man. My car doesn't shine too well, and my paint has all kinds of flaws. Like I said above, my car is meant to look good from 15 feet away. Any closer and you start to see she's just another Mustang
