Joe joe joe... What the hell are you doing there??? There is no need for all that. Its tight but those macs will fit in there without all that... Just jack the motor up some and when it comes to the other side pull teh starter.
Is the steering column really an issue with anyone else?
Nope, done an array of them for the locals here as you know Fast and I work around the shaft quite easily.. The starter too now for that matter, as I have found a way to pull the passenger mount and get it out of that space entirely creating more than enough room to do the passenger side quite easily..
Its easy to get frustratd working on cars. My word of advice ( at least what I do ) is when you start to get frustrated ( which its easy to overlook simple stuff when your frustrated ) step back from it, open a beer, have a smoke, and relax for a min. Things will be easy for you if you do this...
i'm with fox, worked on many different things on different cars. when you start to get frustrated you just get more frustrated and it all just gets worse. stop and take a break. probably need a sandwich or something anyway.
