gains expected from x pipe and high flow cats?
thinking about leaving the stock manifolds alone and just going with an x pipe and high flow cats and updating my tune. looking at the SLP x pipe and high flow cats, what gains should i expect from adding this to my setup? thanks

maybe 5 hp
removing the cats would get a little more i got 20 rwhp from LT's and o/r x pipe, and that's pretty good, so from just an x-pipe w/ hi flow cats, i would guess around 5 hp. |

I have SLP loud mouth axle backs, steeda UD pullies, K&N air filter & a 92 octane Brenspeed tune. I am guessing I have gained 25hp or more if Im lucky.

i did have my car dyno'd baseline and after w/ canned tune for the LT's and o/r x-pipe, and got 20 rwhp which is considered to be pretty good. i highly doubt that w/ just x-pipe and hi flow cats w/ tune that someone will get more than 10 hp out of it.

i have the slp catted x pipe and the sound is great! i had a pypes o/r x pipe and the power difference between the 2 is very small and the clean sound is worth the loss HP witch is very little. Jared

I went to go see about install prices on an x-pipe today. The guy told me that they don't exist yet for 06 models, but offered to remove my catalytic converters for 70 dollars....

Whoever told you that is worthless... Do not let him touch your car. Buy the X-pipe from a reputable vendor online or locally and have a one of the chain stores like Midas or something install it. If you go with a offroad pipe though you may have to find a home town shop to do the install. But either way. Don't let Mr. "they don't exist" touch your car.

screw it. do it yourself, i did mine with a buddy and it was easy, the only hard part was gettin to the manifolds, tighting and untightening. dont waste money on someone else. its your car, you should do as much install as you can.

A tune is not going to effect how exhaust flows through a set of tubes.
On an NA car, probably 5hp, on a blower car, 10-15hp. |

x-pipes dont exist for our car huh. sounds about right. shit, i put the wrong mid pipe on my car, twice, and ford sold me one of them. someone needs to tell ford that the xpipe that comes on the shelby arent suppose to be out yet. He said x pipes in general dont exist for our car? or a brand name? some people need to learn how to say, i dont know.
i wouldnt go expecting 20 to 25 hp from any midpipe though o/r or not. full lt's o/r x's back through mandrel bent over axle pipes and race mufflers dont see that much on n/a 3 vavles very often. good luck though. |
