Get it from tricktuners.com
You can even get a MM discount and he gives you 2 years of tunes if you buy the tuner from him |

my top 3
1. Doug @ Bamachips BamaChips Tuning *highly recommend* 2. CR @ Tillman Speed Tillman Speed, Inc. > In-House Dynojet 224xLC, Custom Tuning, Insallation, Performance Parts! 3. Brent @ Brenspeed BRENSPEED, BBK BMR SCT STEEDA MAC PYPES SLP MUSTANG PERFORMANCE PARTS all give you 3 tunes of your choice and anytime down the road if you upgrade a part on the car that requires tuning, they will send you a new tune free for life! |

I do not think there is a best. The ones mentioned all do a great job. Mine was based on being the most comfortable with the tuner. Brent from Brenspeed was my choice. He always got back to me a couple hours after i emailed him and answered all questions. This was before i even was a customer and aswered questions that did not even pertain to a tune.
E mail a few ask some questions and get a feel for them. |

In my experience, Bama will work with you to the extent that Brenspeed will not. Brenspeed flat out told me they would NOT give me a tune for my "unsupported" FRPP cams. Doug @ Bamachips was more than willing to help, and sent me 5 different tunes until I was happy (and believe me, I was being picky).

I got the Bama email tune (tunes to the mods you have and your location) then put it on a dyno. There is a thread I started with my dyno sheet on here somewhere, I was pleased with my numbers on a Mustang Dyno

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Brenspeed's issue is they only provide reworked email tunes for upgrades you buy from them? So if you didn't buy the cams from them, they're being picky about doing the work for free on something that may take quite a bit of time on their end to figure out. I'm sure they'd be willing to sell you a set of three tunes for $125.... If not, there's always Tricktuners on here and other places. I can see both sides to your issue and if Bama works with you for free on the cams he didn't sell you, then obviously he's going to be better off for you in that regard and you'd be silly not to go with Bama. HalV48: fair amount of people here get their cars custom tuned, especially the F/I crowd. But considering the price difference and how well the tunes from Bama, Brenspeed and Tricktuners apaprently work for people, there's almost no need for the custom dyno unless you're curious about your specific rwhp and/or have a more complex setup than the basic bolt ons. Still, good question that would make an interesting poll....

I never asked them for a free tune. I was going to pay for them to rework it. They said no. Regardless, I bought my CAI, XCal, and plenty of other things from them, just for them to push me away when I needed their help. They won't see another dollar from me (unless I get a Saleen Supercharger).

email is the best way to get bamachips. he's very busy and his voicemail is usually swamped with voicemails, having 2 phone lines. he spends most of his free night time answering emails and updating tunes

go with doug at bamachips. Every time I've called him he's answered. Plus you'll get free tune updates when you start modding

Having a diablo I have to use Bamachips. I am not saying that is a bad thing-far from it. Doug answers my question via email or phone call in a timely fashion. I am completely satisfied with his tunes.

one thing i will throw out there just becuase a lot of people dont seem to know it. The sct xcal comes with tunes for steeda race delete plates, you can already turn off the 02 sensors yourself for o/r setups and you can re-cal for gears and tire size youself. So if you are going with one of these guys based on needing retunes in the future i would look at one that would offer something that makes it worth your while. like nitrous or f/i tunes. and not just a re-cal for something you could already do. I here that joe at trick tuners offers free tunes for two years no matter what the mod is and you dont have to buy it from him. otherwise the steeda power package comes with a xcal III, claims 38 hp gains and like i said it has tunes for delete plates already on it and can be used to turn off the os sensors. ask yourself what would you need a tuner for in the future and shop accordingly.
