nope, after you make the switch from conventional to synthetic, you are not supposed to switch back to conventional. Hello expensive oil...forever

Then why do they sell a blend of synthetic and regular? That's what I use in mine.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea. except that maybe the oil has a tendency not to wear out as fast as conventional, keeping your engine safer longer. Why not go straight synthetic then? Thats the whole point. Get more performance out of the engine.

You can switch between the two ... that's just a myth.

Yes the good ole oil debate is back again ... the book says 5k using the Ford Blend. I've done it all with oil ... all types of cars, engine conditions, types of oil ... for the $$$ catch Mobil 1 extended wear and the matching filter on sale ($29.99 5qts plus filter and then add an extra quart). I've also started with a new car, and did all my changes well beyond the 3k mark ... not a single ounce of oil burned to date, no blow-by ... etc.

I switched to that in my high mileage car -- 200K plus -- what a difference ... and I run it for 15k before changing again ... just like Mobil 1 advertises for that particular oil/filter.

The Stang switched to the same oil/filter but I don't go 15K before changing the oil -- about 1/2 like Juco, until the power train warranty is over (or I get around to buying the KB) ... the days of the 3k miles rule are long over ... its merely recreational mx if you still do that ... especially in a newer car.

Check this link out, they use Mobil1 synthetic and Amsoil in a LS1, and leave each oil in for a full year doing an oil analyst at every 1000 miles.
