nasty exhaust rattle

I have the borla stinger axle backs. Ive noticed a bad rattle when im downshifting or even accelerating...like when there is a change in tq and the exhaust moves a little....well it sounds like metal on metal and i konw the tips arent hitting the bumber like i first thought. I had meinke look at it and they didnt find anything but have you guys had any issues like this?

where did you get the stingers first? someone beat my price, maybe ill let them answer messing with you. check and make sure the rear, shit i cant think im so tired. not the hanger but the metal peice goes in the hanger isnt rubbing against the back of your car thats probably it, if not them it is the tip vibrateing against the plastic. even if it does seem that way.

yeah the tips have a good 1.5" atleast from the top of the bumber and i re adjusted them so they are perfectly center so i dont think thats it...ill check the other piece like you said. Im thinking it might be the actual muffler hitting a piece of the chassis...there only like an inch seperating the two. If so could i just put some rubber lining on the chassis to reduce it?

I know the tips can look like they have plenty of clearance, but under torque they can move. i have had mine on and off so many times and have to mess with that issue always, plus the hanger arm is so long on the stingers it rubs on the back of the car. i have heard of guys saying they cut it to make it shorter becuase it was rubbing.

There's a metal shield on the transmission that is known to come loose. Mine was rattling something awful on acceleration from 2k-3k rpms. It sounds like sheet metal rattling on metal. I took it in under warranty. The link above has DIY answers.

well looked under the car while it was idle and still heard the rattle...it was def. the hanger arm hitting the bumber. Tommorrow it is coming off and im gonna cut it so that should eliminate the prob. Thanks guys for the help, i woulda never looked for that.

I had the samething on My 07 Stang. It only did it when the car was warm. We found that when the pipes got hot the exhaust would grow! The rods that hung my axle backs would hit the bumper brace]
Cut the rod and the noise left
