Hood Liner Sagging.

My car is a DD and has been through 2 winters. The hood liner is starting to sag and rub on my intake. Would it be alright to remove the liner? I'm fairly certain it wouldn't hurt, but has anyone else done it? Are any problems forseen? In a month or so I'm grabbing a 4 cyl. ranger so I'm retiring "Black Betty" from DD service.

Thanks,

Jake

Hey man....

Pop the rivets out - I used a kitchen fork - just sacrifice it for the garage....

You can put some heavy duty velcro under there to hold it up then put it back.

Careful with those fasteners though = $4.50 each - that's Fo=Fity....

If that doesn't work - take it out...it's not painted the best over there - no clear coat either...but you can decide what you want to do after you see it with the liner off.

Last night I saw a guy that had a plastic liner under there. Wanted to find out where he got it but he wasn't around when I was there...

Hey - I actually answered a tech question!!!! Yay Me!

Cool. Thanks. The liner is looking pretty bad itself, I don't think it could look worse under it. I'll be getting a new hood before long anywayz. But I wanted to know if anyone has had any problems.

Thanks!

Noticed mine was sagging after spending $75 on a plenum cover and 4 days later noticing rub spots on the pony. Now she's a Palomino pony instead of a Mustang.

Local Ford store didn't mention warranty and they usually do.
But it's worth the phone call to find out!

Thank you Another thing you could do is actually cut out the square in the center that is embossed in the center...velcro around the outside of it to hold it up then you could get creative with that square. I haven't figured out what to do there...

New hood sounds like a good option though!

Mine started to look like crap from rubbing. I took it off and the hood is painted as good as the outside, so I left it off.

I removed mine when I did my hood pins and didn't think twice about reinstalling it. I like the look better without it, and I could give a shit less if its louder without the sound dampening.

Cool. That makes me feel better about doing it. I know on some cars, your asking for trouble when you remove the hood liner.

Thats kind of where I was going with the question. But it would appear to not be affected? Althought, if that happend it would just be a good excuse to get a new/better hood.

I've had my hood liner off a couple times when installing the hood pins. Once you get at it man you'll see that it's not a big deal to mess with.

I'm not afraid of taking it off or messing up my hood in taking it off. Just what ill affects the heat will have on the hood. Noice/Vibration I could care less about.
