Stage I Performace upgrade package for 2005-2008 Mustang GT
we can tweak this package to your likeing. get rid of the shifter and use a different gear ratio or brand. but you get the picture. |

manual transmission 4.10s all the way.
automatic you probably want to look at some 3.73s or 3.90s. I know guys with automatics and 4.10s that like them, but most guys with autos dont like 4.10s and ford racing recomends 3.73s with the autos. |

depends on your definition of a street beast. A true saturday night light to light street warrior would have some 4.30s or up on this high revin OVC engine
but 4.10 is a great final ratio for all around street/highway/track/strip compromise gear. just my humble opinion that im sure everyone on here is sick of reading about.

remember its a ovc engine and makes its power up top. this isnt a 5.0 that makes peak torq at 2000rpms and peak hp at 4000. it likes to rev and gears do that for it. |

i have only ever driven 3 vavle automatics with the stock 3.31s in them. so i dont know which gear to get for it.
I like gear and i say get as much as you can take. but i'll let the automatic guys chime in on that subject. You could call ford racing as well and ask them why they recomend 3.73s on the autos. the number is 1 800 ford788. they are usually very helpful. They dont make 3.90s so naturally they are going to recomend 3.73s on their website. I know one guy with 500 at the wheels, procharged, stroked and cammed, with an automatic with 4.10s and would laugh at anyone who said it wasnt a good gear for the auto. but he is a marine and by default a little nuts. plus he really only drives it when he is on leave and stuff. |

although i'm looking into a termi i'm going to go with either 3.90's or 4.10's even with my sc'er. i am however a 5 speed and possibly one day a 6 speed if i keep the 07.

you better spend some time in a termi first. you can make you car as fast as a termi. you cant make a termi as nice inside and out as your car. flame on cobra guys.
do this you want a termi. here order this forged 4 vavle from ford raceing. drop it in a get a whipple. best of both worlds. Ford Racing Performance Parts [M-6007-A46SC*] Last edited by 07stanggt; July 31st, 2008 at 08:39 PM. |

yea i would also take the time to call ford racing. they are usually very helpful, tell them what you want out of your car and they can tell you what the gears will do, positive and negative and what the difference in a 3.90 and 3.73 will be on the automatic transmission. its a 600 modification you dont want to regret whatever your decision is. toll free number and cant hurt right.
