CHE LCA's - TQ spec?

CHE install instructions say torque to 80-90 ft/lbs, factory specs are 129 ft/lbs, a pretty large difference. Design differences or install instructions incorrect?

Whatcha think?

Good luck. I had mine on ramps again due to a clunk noise after putting my Metcos on. I torqued mine today to 130#. I'm a relatively stout guy and about herniated myself trying to get the wrench to click. Noise is still there, but sounds like the driveshaft to me.

I torqued mine to 129 and no issues. 129 is not that hard to torque to either.

Updated info from CHE re: TQ

Got this from CHE in response to my inquiry (of course, by this time I had TQ'd to 129 ft/lbs)

The lower torque value is sufficient because of the bushing design. The stock bushings are actually "glued" to the center steel sleeve and do not rotate around the center steel sleeve, rather they are stretched and twisted and under a great deal of torsion when the control arm moves up and down. The incredibly high stock torque setting is in place to prevent the center steel crush sleeve from rotating with the bushing.
With our bushings, the control arm rotates freely around the steel center crush sleeve and there are no torsional loads placed upon it that may cause it to rotate. Additionally, the factory setting of 129 lb-ft is high enough that it could actually deform the steel center sleeve, not to mention that you would practically need a gorilla in your garage to pull on the torque wrench hard enough to reach that spec.

Please let me know if you have any further questions,

Guess I'm a gorilla then.

Awesome, thanks for posting that, I'll loosen up the control arms and retorque this week as well.

130 ft lbs is not hard to torque. I dont see what the problem is. Try 160.... if you have a problem torquing then maybe the torque wrench is too short. Go to home depot and get some steel tubing, about 3 feet worth. That will give you the extra leverage.

Heh, when you weigh 225 lbs and do lots of pushups, torque specs are easy to hit. Maybe the guy from CHE is a runt?
