No i have the Nser Stage II's. I found this thread on another web forum. sorry for the confusion those aren't my numbers i just wnated to post the the numbers someone had with dynos with two different cams including the stock cam. Also the dyno sheet you provided 07stanggt had an overall way better power and torque curve than the dyno this guy posted. Anyway i'lkl try to cut and paste the sheet. Hey here's the sheet. The blue line is stock cams, the red line in the FRPP Hot Rod cams and the green line is the Thumpr

07 I thought you were getting the Comp SPR Cams installed? I e-mailed JPC racing in MD and they quoted $1750 for install and tune on the SPR Cams if I supply the parts. They quoted $1625 if I get the cams and associated parts from them. I asked them what the cost of parts would be?
They quoted $1250 to install and tune the Comp NSR cams so like $500 difference between just Cams and Cams, Springs, Retainers, and Phaser limiters. |

I am doing spr stage II cams. this thread was saying i have them on the way to stock them. are you asking what the cost of the parts would be? well the cams are 740 retail, i dont know what justin charges for them, you know what i charge, the springs are like 300 and phaser limiters are 225, retainers are like 80. those are retail prices. So i dont know what to make of charging you 1750 for labor and basically 1625 for parts and labor, thats stupid unless im missing somthing. He charged me 5 hours @ 95 per hour. he quoted someone else 550 to do the nsr cams. i dont get why he is quoting you 1250, unless he is charging you like 600 for dyno tune. I like justin but those prices are high. What kind of tuner do you have now? You dont even need a tune for nsr cams period and if you want one, get the tune from someone else or get doug from bamachips to email you one for them. i would go to someone else for some better priceing. check this out. JPC quoted me about 2000 for heads and the spr stage IIs, I didnt even ask for a tune becuase he uses diablo. SGS in dillsburg pa quoted me 1200 for a before power pull, install the heads and cams, and dyno tune afterwards. Now i dont need a tuner becuase they are just going to use my xcal. thats why i ask you if you had a tuner. He also said he would check my pinion angle and adjust it if he thought it needed it. Shop around. just for the stage II spr cams with the spring swap i bet you could get it for 800. then what ever a tune would cost, becuase you do need a dyno tune for those spr cams. Yeah I think it was Tommy. I know there are probibly a dozen guys within 100 miles of me that could do this ether the SPR or NSR cams and tunes but I am one of those that if I dont know you or have not herd good stuff about you I don't fully trust you. JPC is known and the closest of their caliber to me that I know of. Like I stated above if anyone knows a good tuner / shop that could do the install and tune that is closer or in NC that would be awsome.

SGS is about 1.5 hour further from you. They are great guys, have been on pinks, and won, in a fox body, against a camaro, so you gotta love that.Very honest, not a lot of bullshit. You really should start a seperate thread and title it that way, "good shops in NC." that would get you a lot of responses. A lot of people arent going to look in this thread. But no way i would drive to md to pay that price. Good or not, it isnt worth that, your not haveing him build you a race car, its just a cam and spring swap. And he doesnt tune on xcal so your going to have to buy a predator from him which is why that dyno tune price is high. Last edited by 07stanggt; September 3rd, 2008 at 11:00 AM. |

Are these the Cams this thread is referring to:
XFI SPR Ford 3V Cams & Phaser Limiters from Comp Cams Deliver Gains of 50+ Horsepower The revolutionary COMP Cams XFI SPR (Springs & Phaser Mods Required) Camshafts have changed everything in regards to the performance output of Ford 4.6L/5.4L Modular 3 Valve engines. These innovative cam sets are available for both naturally aspirated and supercharged engines, and each version is offered in three performance stages. Designed to work with the patent pending COMP Cams Cam Phaser Limiter kit (Part #5449) and H/L Beehive Valve Springs (#26125-24), these camshafts not only maintain low and mid-range power, but also offer incredible high rpm horsepower, an extended rpm range and a great exhaust sound. Phaser Limiter Kit Unlocks Incredible Ford 3V Performance The patent pending COMP Cams Phaser Limiter Kit is the first such device on the market that puts the factory VCT technology to use, rather than locking it out and giving away performance as some other valve train companies recommend. Our new limiter plates restrict phaser movement to 20-degrees instead of the factory 60-degree range allowing for large camshafts. The results are that you can now run larger camshaft profiles and receive the related mid & top end performance gains, without giving up anything on the bottom end. Ford 3 valve technology has moved forward, don't get left behind. "This was an incredible gain on our highly modified naturally aspirated engine combination. The exhaust is incredible; it sounds like a big block. There was no bottom end power loss and a 72 rwhp gain. You guys have blown me away with these cams." - Jim D'Amore Sr. Owner & Engineer- JDM Engineering Ford 3 Valve Camshafts |

No those are the spr cams.
Comp has four basic lines of cams for 3 vavles. They are; NSR, Thumpr, VSR and SPR. The NSR cams...... they require no spring upgrades or no phaser limiters as long as they are just droped in on basic setups. They are stage I part # 127050 and stage II 127200, Stage II nsr cams are very popular, they are the cams i and a lot of people are running on their car. The Thumpr cams that are also NSR (no springs required) but unlike the nsr cams they DO require phaser limiters. They are brand new and not on Comps website yet. if you call comp you are likely to have someone tell you they dont know what your talking about, Give them these part #s 127010, 127020, 127030, respectively stage, 1, 2, and, 3. They will be able to look them up and then say, oh i didnt know the thumpr's were out for the 3 vavle. (i had this happen today) Next is the oldest of the 3 vavle cams from comp the VSR line. There are now 2 stages listed of these cams, though there were more and im sure you could get the other grinds. they require spring upgrades but no phaser limiters. they part numbers are 127100, stage I and 127300 stage II, the 127300 were also a popular grind and a lot of people are running them, they use to be commonly refered to as stage IIIs. The SPR cams are fairly new. They are the most aggressive of the comp off the shelf cams for the 3 vavles. they require springs and phaser limiters. There is stage I, 127400, stage II, 127500 and stage III 127600, the 127600 cams require ported heads to be effective. In all of these grinds except for the thumpr line up there are also blower, or what i would call high boost grinds, usually the part numbers for those are the same as the n/a grind with with either a 05, or 50 at the end for example the stage II spr blower grind is 127550, n/a stage II spr grind is 127500. the stage II NSR blower grind is 127205, the n/a grind 127200. so forth. here is a link to comps site with all these grinds listed. I hope this helps, comp has changed names of the grinds and part numbers lately and since they have come out with so much new stuff it gets confuseing.
