I know what you're saying, but he said he didn't want to spend alot of money. I just figured buying the cams, then possibly having them put in (of which I assumed b/c he said he's just "getting into cars") So with the cam cost and labor vs. the power output, why not keep that money saved and start a FI fund for down the road? Cams just don't seem cost effective to me, thats all. I also can be convinced otherwise! BTW It seems like the FRPP cams are for the sound mostly? They're not as good as say, Comps? |

You can be convinced otherwise! let me take a crack at it ![]() well i always based my opinion on the frpp cams from what JPC and the guy that owns the car in that video told me. I wont put his business out on the WWW but he needs another tune to say the least. seeing other people picking up 40 and 50 hp with tuneing and those cams. Maybe justin just didnt know how to tune those cams or something, or maybe there is a difference in the grind, that was a prototype set. I dont know. I know what your saying about cams and the cost. but you can be in NSR cams with labor for about 1100 depending on what someone charges you for labor. with guys seeing 30 on comps with no tuneing to now a claimed 50 hp on hot rod NSR cams and the increase in power at higher rpms that equates to some real big performance gains. its not just about peak on peak hp gains. If you can shift at 6500 instead of 5750, your shaveing tenths with just that aspect of it. I would be willing to bet that NSR cams will shave more ET then cai/tune and gears, at least the same amount. and the cost for those three mods to include labor for the gears would be the same as NSR cams. I say it shaves more becuase it really helps down the strip on the top end without adding a ton of traction issues. Im not saying get cams over gears and a cai/tune, but dollar for dollar when you start adding it up nsr cams are a pretty cost effective mod, aluminum ds will cost you 570 plus you need a adj UCA thats like 200, then if you cant do it yourself add the labor, and thats not shaveing as much as cams. You get my drift. And a supercharger is a long way away from cams, your talking $6000 to 1100or even 2000 lets say with cams, springs, retainers, limiters and labor. thats still 3 times the cost. i say get cams and just save a little longer for the blower down the road. at least you can kick some more ass with the cams then without starting today
