Attempted and was successful

This past Saturday I installed the Stage II NSR Comp Cams. I'm really proud of myself due to that this was my first indepth mod that I have done. First things first. I have to give BIG MAJOR props to 07Procharger for guiding me over the phone all the way from Canada. I called him about 10 times and never once got mad....lol At the moment I have stock exhaust but you can still tell that there is a noticable rumble. Thanks 07stanggt for the cams. It will sound better this weekend when I install the exhaust in my sig. To me it was an easy job but very time consuming. The spring compressor tool takes alil getting use to and figuring out which way is better to install the cam followers. I will be more than happy to provide my service as 07Procharger did for me. Any questions feel free to pm me or for my phone #.

Here's 3 different vids I put together. This is my first time mixing vids together. So take it easy. The quality of the last half isn't as good as the first half. Hope you guys enjoy.

Damn. Awesome job. I have been contemplating these. Can you give a brief description of the install? Are you a good handyman/mechanic/engineer? What are the specialty tools required? Time? Trickiest parts?

I won't consider myself a good handy man. I'm a novice mechanic. I could probably help you out over the phone if you do need help. But I followed the write-up 07Procharger made and I followed the Ford service manual. Specialty tools would be the timing chain wedge & spring compressor tool. I'll rent them out to anyone who's doing the cam swap. It took me about 8hrs from start to finish. Thats including taking a break to eat and running to the start for an extra socket. I did it with basic hand tools. Breaker bar is helpful. Trickiest parts would be using the spring compressor tool and putting the cam followers back in. An extra set of hands would be helpful when swapping the cams so the timing chain doesn't fall off the sprocket if it should. Biggest thing is take your time and have patience.

Naw I didn't. Good thing because my help (fiancee) left early and I had to install the passenger cover by myself. It would have gotten all scratched up due to the harness there...lol

nice job i can't wait to tackle this mod. did you mark the timeing chain and sprocket so if it does fall off you know where to put it back. just wondering trying to get all the info and bugs out before i take it on when i get back.

nicely done usafimj

when you torque the new sprocket bolts,
do you need to have a wrench on the
crank pulley bolt, to keep the engine from
turning over? thanks

Yup I used a sharpie and marked the chain & sproket.

Yea I had to have my fiancee hold the crank with a breaker bar while I used a 1/2" Dr. ratchet to loosen it. Very tough. Also had her hold the crank while you torque it, and torque stretch it. As mentioned above an extra set of hands will be good to hold the chain and sproket while you swap the cams out

thanks usafimj, that's kinda what i figured.

i was a little worried about the crank pulley
bolt loosening up during this step, but it
sounds like it held strong, while you
torqued the sproket bolts.

That's what I was going to ask ... but at least you know now what's involved.

Nice job on the cams ... what did you use for a tune?

those cams are untunable...you can dyno tune them if you want but you would be wasting your money for how much more a dyno tune would squeeze out of them.

As 07Procharger stated that these cams do not need a tune. According to RadMustangs & Comp Cams you should get up to 30HP. Well I already have a tune loaded onto my tuner from bamachips. Just waiting to install the exhaust so I can load it. I'm gonna get it dynoed after that. See what kind of #'s I'm putting down.
