i need torque!!!!
like it says, i need some extra torque guys, down low in the rpm range..........it is KILLING my 1/4 mile times, my car doesnt really "kick in" until the 1/8th mile, then it freaking SCREAMS, but down low i have nothing.
What mods would help the MOST on some low end torque??

^^^ I know... you don't want to go the nitrous route.Get a TRUE cai and tune! Also if you were to switch to drag radials you could launch higher in your rpm range, closer to where you are making your power. ![]()

i'll have the cold air on the car this week john, but it will still be with the "no tune" option..............i just dont have the money to fork over for ANOTHER tune.........im looking for some extra bolt ons, even if they require a tune, i can "bundle" them together which might actually justify getting a new tune.

Underdrive pulleys would help with the rev's and don't require a tune...oh and...DRAG RADIALS! Everyone has said that with the cams you really need more gear too, but I know you probably don't want to change them again. Jared just pulled the trigger on a set of 4.30's.

i told jared if they work out good for him i MIGHT consider a set..........im thinking pulleys, my intake, and maybe some long tubes would help........and, oh yea, drag radials, caugh, caugh!!!..................damn im broke now that i look at it that way.

I think the 4.30's are going to be too much when he throws the smack at it. They would probably be good N/A though.

hp is easy, torque is hard. Only real way to get more torque is with more displacement or unnatrual aspiration. You can make better use of the torque you have by giving yourself more leverage via lower gears, and you can free up some of the torque you're using with "efficiency" mods like UDPs, intake, and exhaust, but to get more torque you really need to push more air.

for low end torque, there arent too many options.
1) nitrous 2) shorty headers 3) twin-screw blower

4.10s! this is one thread that should even be a question, or 4.30s.
Long tubes are not just up top dont beleive that, they will help everywhere even if they dont help down low or you lost something at 1000 to 3000 rpms who cares, you shouldnt even be seing that rpm on the drag strip. I launch at 3000 becuase any higher i spin to much, but after the launch i never see less then 5000 rpms on the strip. If i shift at 6500 my rpms only drop to about 5300. So what rpm are you launching at, and where are you shifting? A lose of low end torq should not be hurting you at the drag strip, its a street issue. Get the tires and the gears and if you have money after that then look at the UD's and long tubes. Launch higher. if you lost torq you should be able to do so, if you cant, work on traction. |

i would say 4.10 gears the stock 3.31's are a little lazy in the low gears
