My First Mustang, Any Help is Appreciated
Hey guys, I just purchased my first Mustang.
07 Torch Red GT 5 spd . Actually its my first Ford . I previously had an 84 Monte Carlo SS. Anyway, just brought her home and she's got 6k miles on her, 18" AR Wheels, SLP cat back stainless exhaust, and a Roush short throw shifter. I would like to do some mods to have a noticeable gains, and I'd appreciate any advice. CAI: I've read other posts, but can I just install the CAI and other mods then take it to get tuned, or do I still have to buy the tuner with the CAI? Headers: I'm looking at the American Racing Headers stainless long tube setup with X-pipe and cats. Any advice, or suggestions for other types ? Gears: I have 3.55's and I keep reading about 3.73 + 4.10's on here. This car is not my daily driver, but I don't want to go too extreme, as I won't be drag racing her. I do want a noticeable difference without sacrificing too much fuel economy, or redlining on highway driving. And is the stock limited slip differential quite strong enough for my application, or should I look into upgrading that while I'm getting the new gears? Also, what about an underdrive pulley, cams or an aluminum driveshaft ? Even necessary or worth looking into at this point ? Sorry for packing this post full of questions. Thanks for any help. |

What you will want to do is buy a CAI and tuner package. I like the C&L Racer intake with the SCT Xcal 3 tuner. I would buy from Brenspeed or Bamachips. Both are great.
ARH headers are great, very high quality, as are Kooks. 4.10s will be what you want. If you plan on adding a supercharger I would just hang onto the 3.55s. And the stock limited slip will be fine for your purposes. UD pulleys are great, but again these aren't compatible with a supercharger so if you plan on getting one, don't get these. Cams are awesome. 07stanggt will be able to hook you up with a great deal if you decide on these. And aluminum drive shafts make a for a decent performance gain. They lose alot of rotational mass. So yes all three are worth looking into.

What's your budget?
Whatever you do just keep in mind that you have to get a tuner no matter what mods you do. Otherwise you're just wasting your money. I don't know how fast you want to go but boost is the only thing that gets these hogs movin. Congrats!! And torch red is the way to go

by the way i see the rims, tires, spoiler and the window things there, the fog lights are moved and the color coded things on the mirrors, and those look like GTA axle backs. What other mods you got done to that, i would be suprised if it doesn already have a cai and tune.
