Where to get an automatic?
This is actually a question for Forensicsteve but feel free to answer if you have one.
I currently have a stick that I had 2nd gear, clutch and TOB replaced. The next time I have an issue with this trans I am going to do an auto conversion since I race it regularly. My question is, who sells the auto conversion? Also, I don't want to 5r55. |

I'm in the same boat as you as far as gettin fed up with the manual. BUT I want a 5r55s, I hear and read nothing but great things about them. I think the 5 gears would make streetabiliy so much better than a 4 speed, and TCI makes theirs to handle more power than most of us will see. Plus your computer will recognize the auto swap just by switching around th tune, the rest of the swap will be hardware stuff like the center console and pedals, and if you already have a 1 piece driveshaft it buttons up to it too.

Wouldn't I need the whole wiring harness for the 5r55s? From what I understand I don't need an extra harness for the 4r70w. Also, I don't think you can put a trans brake in a 5r55s.
I looked on TCI's website and don't see the 5r55s listed. NVM, I finally found it (I Love Google). Looks like a nice piece but I still don't think you can put a trans brake in it. Last edited by 06VistaBlueGT; August 25th, 2008 at 09:59 AM. |

FB Performance, I am currently looking into a group buy from them in the near future.
FB Performance - PRO STREET/STRIP 4STB-E -- W/EOD & L/U (FORD MOD MOTOR) If you order 2 you get a 5% discount on the transmission and if you order 3 or more you get 10%

Good question, I dont know about the trans brake either. But if you run anything other than a 5r55s you'll need some sort of control I would think. Wouldnt you?

I don't believe so if you're running a full manual valve body. I would think you'd need one if you ran an auto/manual valve body.

Try Lentech for a 4r70w conversion. Len makes one of the best 4r70w trannies in the country. He has an entire kit. It is either a iull manual valve body or a stand-alone controller, which ever you want. His valve bodies are patented. I run one of his trannies in my FOX body.

They currently don't make a trans brake for the 5R55S and even if they did the trans probably will not survive any trans brake launches with 500+ rwhp heavy ass cars.
