High Octane in mildly modified NA GT

Hello gentlemen,

I was wondering something. My wife owns an 07 mustang GT that has a BBK CAI, Pypes off road X pipe and mid muffler exhaust with an SCT 91 octane tune. We put a bottle of octane booster in half a tank of 87 (cause she was a goober and put 87 in a 91 tuned car) and we both noticed a substaintial increase in its power and throttle response. We were both wondering if we were to put some 104 in with the 91 that is already in it would it 1 hurt the motor and 2 do you see it having the same effect? I appreciate your input.

well it wont hurt the motor, but its to the same effect as running 93 in an 87 tune... pretty much pointless

uuuuuhh leaded? you want your o2's to keep working for a long time? your fuel tables arent going to add timing for higher octane so...... I see the placeo effect taking effect on you and your wife.. no offense.

now, you actually add timing... and run in SD.. sure why not. maybe 20-30hp...

I concur with the placebo affect, also no offense, because I have been there plenty of times with octane booster. I found that pretty much the only booster worth a shit is Lucas. but running booster in a car with a 91 tune won't do anything I'm afraid.

One thing you have to understand is that when octane boosters talk about adding "points" of octane, they're talking about what you and I would call "tenths", ie. if it adds 8 points, it doesn't turn 87 into 95, it turns it into 87.8.

Octane boosters are a waste of money, plain and simple.

And I agree, Lucas is good stuff. It does exactly what it says on the side of the bottle, which is a rarity these days.
