I bought a used diablosport tuner and when i plugged it in, it told me i needed to update itself. how do i do that?

plug it into your home computer and go to their website and download the lastest firmware to it ( it may be called something other that firmware; sct uses the name firm ware)

goto DiabloSport :: Gas and Diesel Tuning Systems

goto downloads

goto seach by part number and select tool 7145 (i think)

scroll down and look for a crom file in red text. the last letters will say .crom and it will give you a date that says when it was updated. click on the crom file and save it to your computer. then look for DS downloader. click on it (it will be in red text as well.) download that to your computer and run the ds downloader. now plug your tool into your computer. the ds downloader will find your tool. after that navigate the downloader. its easy and select update tool. it will tell you when its done

no i havent read your post. what post? ok ok ok check it out: i think the guy that owned it before me had an '05. when i plug it in: it gives me a CAD_ID number and says it needs an update. when i go to diablo's website, i click on the file and my computer can't recognize the file.

theres a mod shop around where i live that is promoting SCT tuners and is taking used diablo tuners and giving you a brand new SCT. worth it? or should i stick with diablo...like i said i'm a metal and aluminum guy, not a wire and computer type..

If your Mustang is an 07-08 and his is an 05-06 then I don't think the predator will work. The 05-06 uses the model 7140 and the 07-08 uses 7145.

the guy i bought it from had an 05, and i've got an 06 so they should be compatible. but, the 05 tune wont work for the 06 and the tuner needs to updated. well, when i download the ds file thing, no matter where i plug it into, it says it cant find it...now i remember why i hate electronics

It should work if his an 05 and yours is an 06. I bought a used predator from a guy who had an 05 and I have an 06. I forgot how to exactly update the tuner. You might need to contact diablosport, or you can post on the diablo website forum and see if anyone can help.

well it doesn't seem that hard. i THINK i installed everything right, BUT i think that the connection is bad from the my PC to the tuner. i think thats the problem cuz the tuner 'works' when i plug it into my car, it just needs to be updated.

BUT, like i said, there is a mod shop around here that will take my busted ass diablo and give me a brand new SCT. worth it?
