18 inch rims for s197 with gt 500 brembo brake conv.

I am definately getting rid of the 17x8 factory rim/tire combination on my 2006 gt. The only thing they are good for is doing burnouts in movie theater parking lots.So my Question is 2 fold. 1st: will the ford 18x8.5 bullitt style rims clear the gt 500 brembo 14inch upgrade? 2nd: I know more rubber is better but I am trying to decide on the black ford bullitt 18x8.5 or the new black gt 500 svt rims which are 18x9.5. I much prefer the look of the stock bullitts, but the extra inch i hear is very good for launching and such. And there is the $400-$500 price difference in the rims and tires. Plus I only go to the track once and a great while so i was hoping that the bullitts with some nitto invo 255/45 should do the trick for light to light and brisk street driving. So if anybody has the answers they would be very much appreciated, and will help me not waste hours of my day thinking about it.

its a matter of backspacing for the brake upgrade. The GT500 will work. I have deep dish 18 inch bullits and they wont work.

By the way where in MD are you?

you will need 1" wheel spacers in order for the GT500 caliper to clear the inner offset of the Ford wheels, the bullits or the fanblades.

Im getting the svt gt500 wheels within the next couple of weeks. if you can wait until then, i'll tell you how they work. but one question...if im going to leave my stock brakes (for now), what will the wheel spacer do for me? just give my wheels a wide look? i love that look lol

Why don't you get regular size rotors or 14" rotors and call it a day. Granted you'll have to shave alil off the calipers with the 14" rotors

I think getting a kit is a more sound decision. If you have to make modifications and stuff to the stock parts they tend to wear out faster. Where as a kit is good to go in and do work.

I run this kit on my car. Having ran my car on road courses like the shenandoah circuit which is one ot the most technical tracks in the u.s and summit point i can tell you that it made a huge difference in brake performance. A lot less fade and a lot less heat.

On the street you will notice a little difference the braided lines keep will give you a firmer pedal feel on initial braking.

This is a good price for this kit.

type in RAD in the coupon box and it should give you another 6% off if your interested.
