pre 2005 mustang and 2005+ exhaust notes

Ok...it pisses me off everytime i hear a 99-04 drive by that has that deep ass exhaust note and they have the same series flowmasters as me and it doesn't sound nearly the same....for instance my buddy has a 2003 GT same lt headers and mid pipe w/flows and he is soo much thunderus and deeper.

So my question is...is there that much of a difference in sound from a mid muffler design to a axleback?? Cuz thats all i can think of it being really...if it is im pissed at ford for doing this bs

yes it is the mid muffler system. it is the fact that our exhuast stock for stock flows better. and our 2 exhuast vavles flow better. quite frankly the better the flow, the raspier the sound. take the difference between an x pipe and h pipe for example. get stingers, forget the past and enjoy.

the inside of the flowmasters wear down over time making them loulder. Just like any other muffler.

The 2V head design and the mid muffler exhaust make the difference. And flows suck on S197s

it's all about the mid mufflers. People tell me all the time that my car sounds like an older mustang.

flowmasters are awsome sounding mufflers ,but not , not on s197 stangs, u know the ones OURS!!! LOL, it has to do with the the way the ford engineers desighned the exhaust valves, exhaust manifolds ,cats etc. flowmaster for what ever reason could not break that barrier to sound like a 5.0 engine "IT AINT HAPPENIN" u need stingers or magnapaks if u want deep sound , their the deepest, bassanni is good too , but not as deep, now if u really want deep . listen to the gt500 kr, they have small round resonators {no mufflers} and 3.5 " baffled chrome tips , the same ones that are on the bullit. this car sounds like a twin screw CIGARETTE RACING BOAT ,

FLOWMASTERS have no steelwool ,fiberglass nor any type of packing,of any kind . their chambered mufflers ,what u gotts u get. translation: there as loud at 1 mile as they are @ 45,000 miles , unless of course u get a hole in the muffler!!!

switching to a mid muffler won't affect how the exhaust flows will it? Cuz there is a muffler regardless...cuz im doing mufflers that no one else on the board has at least on a S197..

yeah we do stock for stock because they have 4 cats and 1 exhaust valve per cylinder...compared to our 2 cats 2 exhaust valves per cylinder and 2.5 inch mandrel bent tubing...i don't think axle backs flow any different then mid muffler systems do...then again in a mid muffler system the exhaust gases are traveling faster before the axle so it slows them down a tad more then a axle back would but nothing significant i can't imagine..
