Lagging at lower rpms

I know I have seen this somewhere but it's been a while and I couldn't find it in a search. My mustang is seriously lagging up to 3000 rpms. I know that is where the power band kicks in but it is so bad it feels like turbo lag. It kicks in hard when it gets to 3000 but not before. My mods to the engine are C&L CIA, Dyno tuned by Paul's High Performance w/ xcal, Delete Plates, Spydershaft driveshaft. Two things have changed since I got it tuned, 20' wheels and moved to 7000ft elevation (although I did get a 91 octane high elevation tune too). Would the elevation and wheels make that much difference? Do I need to get the tune adjusted?

Eye Candy

there was another guy on here that i dont think i have seen post in a while. Sorry i forgot his screen name. he complained of noticable loss in low torq with the c&l cai, he also tried the steeda. He aslo lived in denver or something at like 5000+ feet. he finally went with either the stock airbox or a no tune cai and said the car felt right then. Try putting your stock airbox on and the stock tune. The delete plates do cost you low end power no question about that so thats not helping you. i wouldnt have done the delete plates with your mods. might want to think about putting the control plates back on until you get some more power mods.

Or as mentioned. some 4.10s would go a long way in curing your ills my freind.

mine does it too... little laggy under 3000, pulls really really hard anything past that.

I attribute it to my c&l racer creating less manifold vaccum (what builds low speed torque).

I don't think it's the CAI because I had it at close to this elevation before (5000ish) and had no problems. When I had the stock wheels and lower elevation with the delete plates I had no problems either that's why I figured it was the heavier wheels or elevation. I am putting underdrive pullies in. Yeah I know I need gears .

I think it's the elevation change. The air density has changed and you have less O2 in the mix. I know on some of the gas turbines and recips I worked with, the higher up you are the less power they make unless you compensate for it in the programming of the control system. May want to look into retuning for that elevation.
just my .02c

ok you 20's are definately slowing you down. No doubt about it. They will cost you some power, like in the 10-20hp range, handling, and braking. Also the elevation is not that good for you. I would get 4.10's, a new diff, and some long tubes. If you are not in a stupid emissions gay state, then make sure your tuner guy tunes it so the o2's warm up later. I am orignaly from NY, and I have that stupid stuff. Even though the high flow cats are better than stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But yeah longtubes,4.10's and look into the meziere electric water pump (MODULAR FORD ELECTRIC WATER PUMP 4.6 BLACK MEZIERE) and make sure you get the relay kit. And call seth at brenspeed and ask him about your situation also.
