Should I attempt this?

I was thinking of doing a torque converter install myself. Should I do it? If so what does it take? Is there anything special I need to know? I am getting a service manual so that will help. Thanks. Oh and I will be doing this in my garage on jack stands.

Okay I will try it. I am going to have to get it high in the air though. Any ideas? Other than using a lift?

I was thinking about get 4x4s and bolting them together, 2 high and creating 3'x3' platforms, and then step it up higher with a smaller platform.

Chock the rear tires.

Drive the front of the car up on to ramps.

Jack the rear of the car up in the air, put it on jack stands.

Jack the front of the car up, put that on jack stands.

And don't cheap out on the jack stands. Not only are the bigger ones stronger, they will get your car higher in the air.

I've pulled the transmissions out of vehicles in the past by doing this.

Yea that is also an idea. I was thinking that I could get the car higher and safer on wood platforms though.
