Have no idea how it compares to others you mention but I can report on the race transmission in my car.

It's called the 4stb-e from FB Performance and is based on the AODE/4r70w Ford transmission. The base automatic tranny is rated at 900 hp. Had it upgraded recently to about 1200 hp. I ordered it with the optional transbrake . It drives like a manual without a clutch. The Hurst shifter that came with it, has a 3 speed forward shift pattern, but is a little tricky to get used to for street use.

From the FB site
The major upgrades include a perfected 3-speed Full Manual valve body, that includes electric activation for both the Overdrive and Converter Lock-up functions. It is available with an optional trans-brake feature that is also electrically operated. All electrical functions are "stand alone" and do not require any type of computer interface.

Trans-brake (optional) permits Max stall speed and has Instant release for full tree.

Vid shows transbrake use with car at 20 lbs of boost. The other car was a 100% stock Acura, so it wasn't really a race but you can still get the idea of what a transbrake can do for a launch with about 850 lbs of torque.

my uncle has a trans like that in his 78 trans am... its so cool...you wind it up then you shift it like a manual...pretty cool stuff...not nearly as high tech or nice as steve's though...there is no expense spared in that car...
