i'm looking to buy 4.10 gears for my car. my uncle is a mechanic and will be installing them with me... which install kit would i need to buy, if any, to complete the install, the basic or master kit?

I would buy the master kit with the bearings... you might as well put new bearing in since you are already there... its not that much more than the basic kit... plus there is always the risk of damaging the pinion bearing getting it off...

traction lock (limited slip differential) stops the one wheel burnouts. the back right wheel gets more power, so it spins more and easier. tlok makes both the wheels spin evenly. also better traction because both of your back wheels are pushing you off the line equally. and it works the same way when in turns and while driving.
thats basically it. some people say it also give you slightly better city mpg because you are using less power to get your wheels moving from a stop... also... Locking differential - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

tlok gets you a lil better traction...alot of sixxers get them when they install gears...you dont need them.

how many miles do you have? if you have less than 30k miles you dont absolutly really need a bearing kit, but it would not hurt if you got a new one, as the bearings wear down to your gears, and the new gears would not match up with them.

I got this kit and its great. Only thing you'll need to do is buy 2 extra bottles of RP gear fluid and your set to go

im about to put the order in for the gears, and noticed that american muscle sells a motive install kit, whereas blueovalindustries sells a ford racing install kit. is there a big difference between the two?

NextGen in Hayward did mine and said that since I was below 35,000 miles they said I didn't need any kit, they re-used my stock hardware.

The install kits are usually about the same regardless of brand, they all use timken bearings usually.
You technically don't NEED the full kit because the bearings in yours are practically new, but it is real difficult to remove the bearings from the old pinion gear without destroying them, so you'll probably be better off getting a full kit.
