Motive 4.10's Worth $75 NIB?

I can pick up a set of Motive 4.10's new in box for $75. I know that some people have had issues with Motive gears being noisy, but I haven't heard any issues with them failing in any way.

Are they worth the $75?

Why in the world even try if we have repeatedly warned and the word is they are typically noisey. That 75.00 is going to cause you a lifetime of annoyance driving down the road listening to gear whine. I wouldn't care if they were free.

FRPP gears non motive cast are only about a 149.00 I wouldn't pinch pennies here.

I've heard people complain about every brand of gear being noisy in different cases...FRPP and Richmonds included. I was just wanting to know if this is a brand issue or install issue. I've heard plenty of people say that they have no noise at all from their Motives.

If the complaints that I've heard about are an install issue I was going to pick them up. Not all of us can drop $ as liberally as others...the $75 could have been put to good use somewhere else.

I'll probably just buy a set of FRPP's from Brenspeed in a couple months so that I can have the free tune update.

cool, if you search here on MM, and do the same on stangnet, s197, modular, svtperformance and any other ford forum, you will find that motive landed the contract for a short stint to manufacture the repackaged FRPP gears. Ford discontinued the association with motive after only a few short months and the general public was not told why. During that time frame 4.10 gear whine issues became severely prevalant. Well known installers/shops with year and years of non-issue gear installs began having mass problems with customer returns.

Once the stock thinned out less complaints occurred. Ford still hasn't released or admitted to be the wiser. However, those that purposely ordered non motive FRPP parts had non issues when they went back to the very same installers and the new non motive manufactured parts installed.

its a peice of mind issue as well. The fact of the matter is if you get the motives and they whine everyone including yourself and the shop that installed them will blame the gears. If you get FRPP and they whine, you will blame the shop and demand that they be fixed, and the shop will not have an excuse.

At this point its up to richmond and motive quite frankly to fix the problem if there is one, or start threatening shops with law suits for blaming their product.

sometimes it is better to spend the money and get the good stuff and do it once. Plus we wouldn't send you in the wrong direction. I'd get the ford racing gears because you can always do what 07stanggt said and the shop should stand by the quality of the ford gears, where as the motive.....I usually always go with big name products for that reason.

Cool...that was just the information that I was looking for. I had no idea that there were so many issues. I'll get the FRPP's.
