MT are the best in my opinion. They dont last as long on the street as the nittos but the hook better. That is an awfull narrow tire i would run either a 275/40 or 305/35 depending on the width of your rims.

i not sure for sure what the width of my rims are. they are stock and have the bfg 235/50/18. wouldn't those M/T's be wider than my stock tires.

Are you using these for track only or for street use too?

if you were just using them for the track i would say get yourself some 15 inch rims cheap, used or something and get some good size mickeys. But if your using them for both. The general consesus on this website seems to be mickeys hook the best and nittos last longer. I know guys that use nittos and cut better 60s then me, but their better drivers.

I wouldnt get them for the street. i wish that in the begining of the summer instead of buy 275/40/17 mickeys for my stock bullits i would have just bought some 15 inch drag rims, and put taller mickeys on there. But i only use the dr's for the track and to and from. The mickeys have been great at the track, i just think more sidewall would help a so so launcher like myself.

Im not sure about dr's for the street, do they hook any better then street tires if you dont do a burnout and heat them up? thats a question to ask some other guys, I run 275/40/18s nitto street tires on the street, i have 389/358 and 4.10s, i cant complain about them that much really, its a good tire, in the winter they dont hook that great, it is a soft compound tire, but in the summer on the street they were not bad taking of at a light.

In my experience with Nittos, M&H, MTs...stickier the tire...worse it is at evacuating water.

i'll probably use them all the time
MTs and M&Hs are nice and soft and sticky but you're asking for trouble in a rain shower on a slick oily road. Nittos do not offer comparable traction, but will last a lot longer and are solid in the rain. Now I have Hoosier slicks (not street legal) for strip only. My street tires are not even drag radials anymore.

Yeah, from my experience, if it's raining and you're going faster than 40 on racemasters, you luck is going to run out fast. That was the magic number for me.

thanks guys for the warning about the rain situation. i have a 1969 firebird with about 450-475 hp it runs low 12's. i run M/T sportsman pros dot tires on it. It doesn't do great in the rain either. thats why i was asking about the M/T street radial2. if it was a better everyday tire with good traction.

if you are running on the street get nitto's. get a 275 for those rims. You have an 18x8.5 rim

listen to juco about tires, he's the tire guru. i personally will never switch to nitto. not because it isn't a good tire, but because i've had such great success with the bfg kdw's. they look great and the wet traction is amazing. they matching dr is supposed to be a bit stickier than the nitto dr, but get just a bit less mileage out of it.

oh and i don't think anyone ever asked what kind of mods you have. so do you really need a dr

sounds like nitto's are best for the street. and m/t's for the strip. i'll have to decide which way to go. psycho bob i have the following jlt cai,x3tuner with brenspeed tunes, steeda udp, bassani x-pipe and pipes violater axle backs, hurst shifter, 3.55 gear i'm hoping to upgrade to 4.10 soon. it will not hook up unless i slip the clucth a lot and that sucks.
