Stock Heads

I was just wondering at what power level do the stock heads become a restriction

To piggyback this question, what changed with the '08 heads compared to the '07?

I probably would have bought the 08' heads just to run the better plugs.

You would gain power now with them, i can answer you that much.

I was waiting for someone smarter then me to answer.

I thought i saw someone on here at one point say 500hp? but that seemed like a somewhat arbitrary number to me. I mean, FRPP sells superchargers that can take you to 450rwhp+ depending on other factors on stock heads.

The stock heads flow pretty well and some big hp engines are doing it on stock heads. If no one gives you an answer that satisfies tonight, i would call 1800ford788 in the morning. they can answer it as well as anyone.

I called and was told that there was nothing different from the '07 to '08 heads. The tech said that the heads are good to 550 (crank HP) but had no knowledge past that. He also said that ported heads gets you another 20-30 HP.

Yep. 20-30 depending on the cams you choose.

If you change cams depending on which type you get you may have to change your springs, but there are NSR (No Springs Required) cams out there. If you can ramp up the boost why upgrade a part that doesn't have to be changed, more dollars for something else. Ford did design these cars with road racing in mind.

Hellion power systems did an article a few months back and made over 700hp to the tires with an upgraded bottom end(281 c.i.) and stock unported heads and stock cams.
