My baby got smashed...

Hey guys, so I haven't posted on here in ages, but I've been reading a lot. Anyways, so my baby got in an accident the other night... I was driving down this road called Bay to Bay, and I was approaching an intersection. The light was red, so I was just coasting up to it. Well I saw that the light was about to turn green (yellow, red, green, you know the drill.) So I started to accelerate. The light had been green for about two second before I entered the intersection. Well, then out of no where (it's a blind corner) this white Nissan pickup truck blows through the light and is making a left turn onto my street. I stopped as fast as I could, slammed on the brakes, but it just wasn't fast enough... below are the results. I think I was only going about 10-15 MPH at impact. I think the driver front A-arm broke, cuz when I turned the steering wheel, the wheel didn't move... and when we moved the car, it slid around inside the wheel well, and crunched more of the quarter panel as it got pulled up onto the tow truck...

So, It's at the body shop (Brandon Ford, they have a great reputation.) Ever since I bought my mustang I've wanted a Roush front fascia. So I asked about getting that put on instead, they are completely cool with it. It's going to costs me about $150 extra for the entire kit except the chin spoiler, or $450 with the chin spoiler. I'm probably not going to get the chin spoiler cuz the area of town I live in isn't exactly known for smooth roads. So, what do you guys think? Is there a problem with getting a Roush front fascia? I'm not trying to be one, I just think it's one of the best looking aftermarket fascia out there.

Whatcha guys think?

the damage doesnt look too bad from the outside... i think the roush front would look sweet. cant you just have insurance cover all the costs(including the roush and install)?

I would do the Roush front cover, If I were to change my stock one for any other one it would be the Roush. Looks like you broke the steering arm if the tire moves without the steering wheel.

Well, the appraisers came out and told Brandon Ford how much they are going to cover, so the guy in charge of my car just had to find the price difference between the roush and the stock one, which is about $150, including labor (which there is more labor, with the light kit install and all.) So, I don't think there is a way to have insurance cover it... unless you guys have some bright ideas.

Luckily so far his insurance company is being very co-operative and helpful. They are going to put me in a rental when I need it (I'm driving my sisters jetta 1.8T until she gets back in town at the end of the week, faster than any rental I could get) and that sort of thing. Unfortunately I tore a ligament in my neck in the accident... my chiropractor says ligaments take 6 months to heal, and I'm going to have to be seeing her a lot during that time, but once again, the other guys insurance is covering it. He got the ticket, so I'm just out of my car for a while... I'm supposed to find out how long it's going to take tomorrow. Anyways, for what happened, I can't complain too much. I'm ok for the most part, and I'm getting a new front fascia out of it... plus my hood had a few nicks in it from gravel and such, it was really starting to bother me...

Ehh, I LOVE the look of the GT-500 kit, but it's a much more expensive setup. It's around $2500 for the kit, cuz you have to get new headlights and all. Plus I'm pretty sure you can't use our stock hood, but I could have that replaced too. Anyways, it would cost me upwards of $1000, AND I would feel like I'm posing a heck of a lot more than wearing the Roush.

I just hit a deer about a week ago with mine, they must love the GO or something. It's in the body shop now, I'm putting on a gt 500 front end with the insurance co's help. I've always loved the gt500 look but the swap is so expensive it never would have made it to the top of the mod list, but if someone else is buying the labor, the paint, and a chunk of the parts, well thats my kind of mod. NO, it wont have any cobras on it

sorry to hear about your accident. the body damage doesn't look nearly as bad as the suspension/axle damage. There's a lot of forced camber in that wheel. That's gonna cost you more then the body damage.

Man...I feel like it's a bad omen to even look at those pics. That sucks guys. krispyrob, I think the Roush fascia would be sweet. Timberwolf, flat black on the hood and deck lid would be bad ass with the GO!!! It sucks that it happened guys, but it's nice to make a change every now and then too. Good luck with everything and keep us posted on how everything turns out.

That sounds like a great idea, I have an attorney friend who handles this exact sort of thing, just hadn't called him... idk why, I guess things just seemed to be going smoothly. My Chiropractor today told me I have a torn Ligament in my neck... it's going to take 6 months to get back to full strength, with a lot of visits to her in the mean time. Now, the other guys insurance company is going to be covering the cost of treatment, but if I can get some extra cash that would be amazing! I'm a poor college student! (More mods! Finally that suspension setup I've wanted...)

Aside from the front fascia, why not also get an aftermarket replacement hood? It was damaged, too. Body shops will always recommend replacement hoods, rather than repair, because the heat generated under the hood causes expansion. And because body filler and metal have different expansion properties, over time, you will have a messed up looking hood. Just a thought.

What's gonna happen is, the body shop is gonna write up an estimate, the truck's insurance company is gonna look at it and assess the damages in person and see what's reasonable, possibly using used parts. Then they'll cut a check to the body shop, and that's what you have to work with. If you want anything extra, it'll have to come out of your pocket.

Good luck man, and get that Roush front fascia if it's what you really want! Oh yeah, make sure you tell the body shop not to drill the front license plate holes!
