I wanted to get that too so it could be like my c6's push start.

Obviously it was too cheap, so I looked a little into it.

From what I remember, you have to stick the key into the ignition, turn it in to the 'on' position, and then press the start button. All it really does is take the last turn of the key and instead you move your arm across to push the button. More for looks if anything I would say.

Edit:Forgot to say, just the fact that you need to put your key in just defeats the entire purpose IMO

I personally don't know. But from all the things I've read about it(the one posted in the first link) it's a very straightforward install, and the people that have it are very happy with the quality of it all. Adds a nice touch to the interior.

I installed one. But instead of the Ford GT one, I found that the same company that makes it, makes the one for Honda. I bought it at HondaAccessories and I believe it was $35.00 shipped.

Now the Honda one does have a way to install it where you don't need the key, but I installed mine where the key has to be on and it won't start unless the parking brake is pulled up. I did that so that if a passenger was tempted to push the button while I drive down the road it would hurt anything.

I did the same thing on a friends car but designed a circuit so once the button was pushed, it wouldn't function again until the car was turned off. This removed any potential for spinning the starter while the engine was running.

Anyone who's worried about a switch that's cheap shouldn't be. I can't imagine paying even $35 for a switch. It's a simple push button switch with the word "Start" on it. I had my friend buy a simple red push button switch for $4 and engraved "Start Engine" on it. Then painted the engraving white.

so how would you go about doing that so you wont need the key? Is it a home-made type job or what?

So does anybody have a write up on the install? I just want to know if i have to rip apart my dash to do this.

Also, yes, there is a chip that has to be present in order to start the car. it's not a new concept...thats why it costs a fortune to key a new key made
