buy a rotating assembly to make a 298stroker or just buy a livernois 298 stroker?

looking long term and I'm gonna need a bottom end build. Option 1 Should I buy the parts to do the stroker myself(having a shop do the assembly and machine work), keeping the crank, buying the rods, pistons rings ect.

Option 2 buy the entire rotating assembly and keep my block. And have the necissary machine work done, and assembly.

Option 3 Buy the livernois 298 stroker.

Just looking for input.

This is what I'm throwing around long term as well. I think I'm just going to say screw it and buy the 298 shortblock. That's well down the line though...

The Livernois 298 stroker is $2100. To take the engine and clean it out, swap out internals is going to be about another $2000 or so The 298 stroker shortblock is $5000. Just a remove and replace kind of deal. So its up to you on what you want to spend

I can do the work (wrench), But I have never done it before and the car is my daily driver. And probably will be later, unless I come back from italy with something. So I am still thinking about doing a 298, heads, cams, and nitrous if need be. But I thnk that the paxton will be cheaper in the short run if I do the install. I could do the heads cams and stroker later. But all and all I will need and want a stroker. I just have not driven a centri car, twinscrew car, a nitrous car, or a powerfull N/A car. (a 12 second lightining is all I have driven as far as a supercharged vehicle goes.) But I think the paxton will be the final choice with the stroker.

okay cool...pull the motor yourself, get the stroker kit..have it installed and put it back in yourself...cheaper than a shortblock imo.

I'd have the machine shop work done first, then go from there.

I like what procharger said too.

steps to stroking.. release zipper...

oh wait.. ooops sorry yall

really:

1. buy kit (making sure to confirm its balanced... as in pistons ON the rods.... and numbered ect.)
2. pull engine. (takes about 4-5 hours.. we'll say 8 if your a virgin)
3. put engine on stand. use tranny bolts to secure it.. take apart. dont mix sides.. I use BOTH sides of my garage if you know what I'm saying.
4. buy cylinder hone.. simple 45* angle down each hole with an electric drill. pressure wash. BUY a NICE torque wrench. LAY the crank and torque it down.. (ford shop manual). rent spring compressor (advanced auto ect.), install piston+rod (dont knick crank) torque rod caps to spec.

DEGREE Motor.. start at slug 1 TDC. leave it there... mark it with something so you know if it moves. reassemble motor. DONE... drop it in and granny it for 30 minutes to keep from wiping your new cams (you will get new cams to accent more cubes right?) then break it in right... drive it hard.

Well, I've thougth about this too, because eventually, I'm going to have three identical race motors built. Do I want to do as much of the work myself as possible? Yes. OR...would I rather have the peace of mind by having a shop do the critical stuff, and I'll take care of the rest, knowing that the right parts are in the short block? I'd go with that one. I'd have a shop do the short block, and do the rest myself. I can build a motor with no problems, but I'm a bit more clumsy than a professional shop.
